Real martial art school is like a boot camp where in the students must pay respect to the Sifu & must show deligent & hardwork they under go a military type of training no fun, fun only after training secession its not about money.
Some Ngo Cho Kun in Europe have adopted & revised their meathod to that of commercialization which is ok as long as those schools have qualified instructors & are bestowing the right techniques to their students.
Ngo Cho Kun unlike again other martial arts doesn`t advertised too much becuase it is targetted only to those who are really interested. As far as tournaments, yes there are tournaments that are held annually in China, Malaysia, Taiwan & sometime in other European countries that have Ngo Cho Kun rules. The rules are full power punching, kicking, & throwings are allowed.
As far as applicability in real combat, I can say that if you reach di sip kun level & have been very deligent in training you`ll be able to take on two street punks. Average time to reach di sip kun will be at least 3x a week for 2-3 hrs training, is 6 months. And i`m talking about serious training not playfull training, then you`ll feel, & see the power of Ngo Cho Kun.
Here`s a summary on what you need to do:
1. stretching left, right, side ways on your legs. for about 10 min
2. push ups, flat palm, fist down, & finger push ups, do each about 25- 50x increase count as you gain strength.
3. sit ups or any abs exercises, start out with 25x increased to about 50x 3 rep as you pregresses.
4.fighting stance ( sam chien be se) right foot in front tension-power punching watch your breathing, left & right punching 100- 500x, then switch to left foot in front same 100- 500x punching. Then do side kicks left & right.
5. fighting stance( sam chien be se ) right kick combo 2 punch again watch ur breathing & for every kick & punch put tension & power in it 100-200x. Then switch left kick combo 2 punches.
6. do sam chien 4x with full concentration, breathing, & putting tension & power in ur arm, legs, hip, & tan tien ( lower belly button area ).
7. same with tien te chien 4x
8. same with di sip kun 5x
There are still more stuff like locking & sweeping techniques but for now this is it.
