  • Boar, I'm really offended that you insulted learning taiji at Bally's or from the Lady's Home Journal. I think you should apologize.

    In fact, I'm going to place a personal ad in the local paper saying, "Looking for taiji instructor that got beat up."

    He could be my next Sifu!!

        Well hey, put me on your ignore list But then you wont pop into the new thread and tell us how often you practice ....I cant wait to hear how often the many people who post in this thread train, and which styles they practice...

          I train Hip Hun Po Gar Kung fu....

          Its a combination of Hun Gar, and Hungry Hungry Hippo's...

          Hip Hun Po Gar Kung Fu.. the hybrid martial art, bringing chinese tradition and western culture to the fore front for all your self defense needs.

                You better believe its the right god damn thread, fear my Hip Hun Po Gar style...

                If you must know, I learned the Hip Po part from a board game in my neighbours living room, and the Hun Gar from playing some fucking mortal kombat game at a friends house...

                        Well I don't practice taiji anymore, so there's no point in posting on how often I do my taiji form.

                        But I do try to do qi gong warmups each morning, though I alternate with active isolated stretching depending on what my body needs. I do sun greeting and water prayer for attunement. I also do qi gong bathing every day to build up wei qi, and I put my hands and feet in warm water to open up the meridians, though usually I just stick my feet in warm water while doing the dishes.

                        I used to do a lot of primordial qi gong but I kept losing sensation in my hands, so I stopped. And the makkaho messed up my back.

                        If I were to do qi gong, I would do Ken Cohen stuff--bone marrow cleansing, etc.

                        I also meditate every morning an evening, 40 minutes total. Used to do emptiness med or standing but now just plain ol' zazen. Kneeling position on the floor b/c I keep falling asleep when sitting cross-legged on a pillow.

                          Funny you do all that esoteric "energy" work but you dont practice Taiji which IS an energy transfer system...chi kung cultivates Chi, it doesnt teach you to control and move it.

                              I don't do qi gong just warmups to get it flowing. I don't want to cultivate more qi anyway, because in my experience what it does is just make my imbalances more exaggerated. Great...
