    If you value it then it's not a waste of time. I don't value it. Therefore I don't do it. Therefore for me personally it would be a waste of time. Different strokes for different folks. For you it may be very valuable.

      I like practicing knife defense. It builds a great awareness of positioning and timing. This awareness can improve your empty hand or stick technique exponentially. I would probably not attempt to disarm a knife wielding attacker, empty handed, but if I had to try, I would be way better off having practiced it frequently. The set pattern of attack is to build the fundamentals of body movement and positioning. It is not intended to have your attacker attack you like "THIS". Thank goodness the people who develped Fillipino Martial arts remembered to preface their teaching with everything you learn can be translated into empty hand.
