    • Been A while since I visited

I missed it. Wow that was cool Greg Alland posting on here. Hope he comes back with more stuff! If You do Master Alland please address those who never met you and doubt your skills and more details of what goes on behind the scenes. I was Emailing one of your students a while ago He said that you were an awesome teacher and a Legit Master. So I respect his opinion because he was an accomplished full contact fighter. Etan, and others that I know speak highly of his prowess in the ring. I think that in person you probably come across better than on your old videos, I mean your skills and personality. I thought Guro Dave Goulds posts were awesome and Mike Snows posts explained a lot too, heard a lot of good thing's about him. What Masters are you affiliated with today? Hope that You come back on and post any news

      • Hi guys,

In light of all of these recent controversial attacks on some of our Brothers character I just wanted to add one thing of value. There is alot of wisdom to be found in this old Pilipino parable which goes like this:

"Ang sakit ng kalingkingan, damdam ng buong katawan."

Literally translated it means: " The pain of your little finger can be felt by your whole body."

Loosely translated people use it to comment that bad news about a member of a community affects the whole community.

People on the outside looking in see all of us in the Pilipino Warrior Arts community as one community. And we are judged not by one mans actions but by every ones actions as a whole. The more that we publically slander our brothers reputations for self gain has a negative effect on the community as a whole. This is why these things should be handled in private between the two parties affected and not be brought out in plain view of the public and subject to public scorn.

Which brings me to another Pilipino proverb which states "Ang dungis ng iba, bago mo batiin, ang dungis mo muna ang iyong pahirin." which translated means: "Before you criticize others make sure that you do not have the same faults."

Go well guys, and stay challenged by your training. Ciao.

        Guro Dave Gould.

        • Also interested in MasterKaliSilat

Greetings to Guro Dave Gould, Top Dog and everyone else:

I also would very much be interested to read more from Master Greg Alland and what his experiences were throughout the years. I have looked up a lot of other websites and other posts about Greg Alland and find him to be a very interesting person. He seems to have been with some of the very best masters in the martial arts of the Philippines and Indonesia. It also is quite evident that Master Greg Alland is currently persuing philosophy and seeking knowledge in higher ways and standards.

This forum seems to have been very good in presenting Greg Alland to other practisioners of Martial Arts, as I was unaware of Master Greg Alland until I found this forum through a search engine. I have also had discussions about Greg Alland with other instructors who have been to this website and many come here to see if anything new and interesting will be posted.

This is a thoughtless statement since the tape that Masguru Greg sells that teaches Dekiti Tirsia Siradas is of Nene Tortal himself, demonstrating the style. I was standing ten feet away from Tuhan Nene Tortal in Chicago when he said that Greg was a master of this style, and thanked him for bringing Dekiti Tirsia Siradas to America.

Masguru Greg founded SinaTirsiaWali, which is a concept more than a system, in which traditional styles can be expressed in a way unique to each practioner. He does not sell any tapes on SinaTirsiaWali (as far as I know), but it may be that you are confusing his tapes on Pekiti Tirsia, which is incorporated within Sinatisiawali. He learned the early version of Pekiti Tirsia which focused on the original 64 strikes, from Master Leo Gaje. I don't believe Master Leo teaches this version any longer. I won't be responding further regarding Masguru Greg publicly on this thread, since I have too much respect for him and kali to contribute to a negative debate. But for the record, I consider Masguru Greg to be a superior martial artist and an enlightened individual.

I can be contacted at kali@northstorm.com.

Was wondering though, How come Mike Olive doesnt respond on this thread any more? He has been posting recently, at others, on this website...but not here.

Kaliace, What about it... Are you ever going to answer Greg Allands statements and also now these?
Are You, or is Greg Alland, the representative of GM Tortal now?

It is not a question of "who represents GM Tortal". ... he represents himself very well. If you doubt that, watch him workout for two hours non-stop, and then still be fresh for the next young, well rested challenger. GM Tortal has many students, they each represent themselves, albeit their "self" includes the lessons they have learned from others. GM Tortal might be working closely with one group of students or another at any given time.

                  • Greetings from around the globe!

Been working hard on getting more things done with less time, editing a show on cable TV in NYC, 9:PM tuesdays channel 56. And, looking to bring a group to the Cebu, Philippines March 30th for 12 to 14 days, training in the country of origin is always exciting, many new and old friends will be around.

GM Canete, Esq is arranging the event and we'll have some competition as well in fighting and forms and demonstrations, and training with the masters and grand masters still around. It's been twenty years since I was in Cebu, and in that part of the country they are well organized for these Philippines Arts and Sciences.

Ok, by the way, I do represent myself, as well as many Filipino masters. Those of you that know me, I've always promoted Filipino masters to practice with anytime they are in town. We can learn from everyone. No one should be judged, we're not actually here for that, but to share and to grow, and that's why I've made the DVDs or tapes, they're amaturish, but that have the system. The system is the precious method of practice, when you've practiced them all the 12 methods, you should have it. It comes from woking hard, and that's what we'll be doing in Cebu March 30th to April 14th.

Then I'll be in Brazil afterwards, they got the idea of our methods of practice there and Guru Paulo A. is working hard to provide a tournament and training in late April / May 2006.

Hope to see everyone in Wichita Falls Tx, end of November and in Washington DC area first Week end in December.

Any way, we continue to practice we continue to grow, and incidently of Greg Alland's tapes / DVDs, I only have five of them, the others belong to great martial artists from Grand Master Dionisio Canete, Grand Master Jose Reyes, Grand Master Jerson 'Nene' Tortal, Grandmaster Suryadi Jafri, emeritus, and two tournament study tapes, and several masters and grand masters from the Indonesian study of Pencak Silat.

So that's the scope on today's post by Greg Alland, see you.

Oh, I forgot to mention, everyone is invited to see for them selves, I'll be here and there and most everywhere,

Connecticut is again in January 2006. See ya.

                      • The Saga continues

I just came on and read this entire thread. This is my viewpoint as a newcomer. This entire matter is about the man Greg Alland, also known as MASTERKALISILAT and unravels almost like a soap opera, if you will. It has Five Stars and is one of the best, or rather most interesting Threads I have ever read.

The Thread started out about the matter of KaliSilat Master, Greg Alland who has instructional video tapes on the market. Then there were things brought up discussed about Greg Allands whole credability and Skill level. Some are very impressed with Master Alland and stand with him and some are not impressed. (seems it's mostly those who haven't met him are not impressed, but those who have Are seemingly very impressed with his teaching and skill level)

There are a few squabbles between Kaliace and MAMike which bantered back and forth and then someone else comes on and challenges Greg Alland and Someone named "Dustin Etan" who has a website dedicated to Master Greg Alland and who states that Gregs fighting skills are high ( and who also, by the way looks like a professional wrestler) A few other reputed Gurus and Senseis come on with deep insights and some other interesting points have been made. One Guru, Dave Gould, (who seems very serious and formidable) puts the challenger in his place and the guy backs down. This Guru Dave Gould is very credible and is a big supporter of Greg Alland also. This say's a whole lot.

MasterKaliSilat suddenly appears and reprimands Mike Olive and then gives us his report with deep intentions.

So now it seems as if there needs to be a new chapter started to continue this interesting read. A lot of time is passed and This whole issue hasn't been cleared up

So I have a few questions for MASTERKALISILAT, Greg Alland. (Who seems to answer quite forward and upfront.) I will only ask a few, but I actually have many, like about the challenges and stuff in the past with other instructors and his standing with other masters

MasterKaliSilat:What exactly happened between you and guru Mike Olive also known as KALIACE?

Seems like he has really dismissed your credabiity as a qualified Master from the posts he had placed. But, he has pictures of you still posted on his website when you conducted seminars for him.(?) So what is your opinion of Mile Olive as an instructor and "guru"? And why the "bad blood" between you two now?

Perhaps you should ask Mike, I'm not even sure he's still practicing, last time I was in Missouri working, I received a stealth mailer with his name on it and one word, naaayh.

Well I guess no one can leave well enough alone. I thought there was nothing more to say and that we could all go on our own way. I even thought it was funny that some of the members of Greg’s organization were sending me E-mails (See Sticks and Stones thread) trying to trash me.

I belive Greg has continued on his way and I have gone mine. What happened is in the past and no longer part of my future.

Greg, I never sent any mail to you “Stealth” or otherwise. I knew of your return to Missouri because someone asked if they should train with you or not. I told them they should go and see for themselves on what you have to offer. Even in this post, I state the skill you have and willingness to share it.

What is between Greg and I is just that, between us. I have moved on and I am sure he has as well.

Just as a note, I still practice. I just do it on my terms.

you have been talking a lot about Greg Alland behind his Back. There are others who know this. You were confronted one time at your seminar for trying to pull a stunt and you cowardly backed down. Then you bravely post thing's about others in these forums. When confronted You snivel and whine a lot.

                              • wow... I can't believe this thread has lasted as long as it had.
I don't know ANY of those associated( or those formerly ) with the man this thread is all about. I have nothing to say about all the other "drama" that got added on.

Greg Alland, now that you're around to read this post.....and with all due respect, I truly hope your videos now are much much better than what they appeared to be than what you had marketed many years back. I only had one thing to say about only ONE videotape I had viewed and viewed AGAIN 3 more times because I could not believe what I was watching. I thought the quality was crap. The techniques(64 attacks) were legitimate enough but something about it was way "off-key".

I'm no authority on Pekiti Tirsia kali so I have no ground to stand on in accordance to the art in question, but the average street-fighter could tell what's worth a damn from what they notice.
