for you guys that carry fixed blades for sd, how do u guys deploy em quickly? a folder would be easier to take out than a fixed blade in a sheath wouldnt it? i have a couple fixed blades with sheaths and holders, but i really dont feel like i can carry it around comfortably and be able to get it out fast enough compared to my folders. do u blade guys have any advice for comfortable ways to carry a fixed blade and how to get it out fast?

Not since kydex sheaths they arent. Besides, what are you carrying? a freakin machette? IF you carry a 4-5 inch fixed blade in reverse grip draw (Drawpoint) carry its amazing how fast you get. Then try turning the handle DOWN watch how much faster and more subtle that draw is

also a fixed blade is faster since its one motion to draw and USE...plus they are stronger...illegal in some communist run states though so beware.

To quote James Keating "there are lots of great knives...But most have shitty carry systems." Nothin more true ever spoken about knives.

Forget neck knives and boot knives, those are back ups carry blades, NOT primary EDC SD blades. Get something you can fit to your lifestyle and wardrobe so it can be accessed in an instant. IWB (inside waist band) is good but it puts the handle up and requires you to lift the shirt to access it..slower than a handle down rig that doesnt reqiure the shirt to be lifted. For Concealed carry IWB is the best bet or horizontal across the back with untucked shirts. i dont like knives on my back but some people do...

look into Bud Nealy Knives, his MCS (multi carry system) series is unreal.

Fixed is also illegal in some places in the US as well, e.g. NYC.

My primary carry is a Custom Polkowski Hand Made Companion with IWB Kydex sheath, and I can deploy it quicker than my folder. I train daily to deploy, establish a firm grip and engage in less than a second from any of 9 starting positions.

Of course the best way to train deployments is to have your training partner just jump you whenever he feels that you are not paying attention and then see how quick you can deploy, recover and engage under duress with pressure on without fumbling your blade to the ground or removing a digit in the process.

Anything is possible if you want to live badly enough, and until you begin to move at the speed of light there will always be room for improvement. It always comes down to daily practice with intention and endless repetition. Go well, ciao.

Dude, The laws in commiefornia are not SD blade friendly...ask cold steel...they cant ship (or store) many of thier blades from there, they have to come from Texas....ask any traveling knife dealer if they go to cali shows...watch em laugh at you...it isnt a level playin field regardless what you have been told...other states allow MUCH more usable blade carry.

Go ahead, pick one of these babies up...wear it to the beach, mall, go see a movie, catch a bite to eat and post when you get out of jail....i wear blades like this and nastier ones all the time in the very type of activities i listed here in FL...can you do that in commiefornia?...I was running a seminar in a park here awhile back when the police rolled up, there were about 30 HUGE bowie knives etc in peoples hands and on tables the officer said someone reported we had GUNS we laughed and said "no just alot of knives...." he looked around chuckled and called it in..."ugh no guns just alot of big knives"...and drove off....try that in cali

Szabo Inc has some of the most popular and best tactical knives that were made. Our collection of great combat knives has it all.

cali does have some bad laws regarding sd, this is true. however its not illegal to carry fixed blades here. im pretty certain you can carry a fixed blade of any length as long as its in a sheath and not concealed.

and despite the many problems we have in cali, at least we have awesome buds out here.

as a man who said you smoked bud for 20 years straight, im sure you know all about the cali buds........

the state might be allow any size fixed blade, I dont know, but i know that some places in cali limit it to 2.5 inches of blade for a fixed blade.

You risk arrest traveling to the shows in cali if caught in the wrong area...its happened to several knife dealers who brought the stock they sell in the rest of the country (excepting the commie states) and got stopped for a traffic violation...no thanks, dont need the hassle.

Its like the DILDO sales lady who got stopped for a traffic stop...she was in some back assward area that makes having adult toys or too many of them illegal

im a FL boy we dont need or want nuthin from cali... Besides, NM has the good stuff.

oh, hmm. i guess i was wrong. i was almost certain that fixed blades could be carried if not concealed. thats a bummer i guess. ill just have to stick to folders.

well, at least we still have the best buds here. most people think bud only comes in green or purple.......but here in cali we got options.

I REALLY hope you mean with trainers but the removing a digit part makes me wonder you dont find yourself short training partners do ya?

Practice. Find a good position that works for you and practice.

Inverted carry is fun and fast with practice but here in the peoples republik of Kalifornia DISCRETE is the key. That's why my "tools" are for "work"

i just cant get comfortable with carrying fixed blades on me, despite owning quite a few, not even the smalles ones. if i hide it somwere on me, it feels real uncomfortable walking around with it, and it can create wierd looking bulges and angles in my clothing. the folders are so much more discrete and easier to carry inmop. ima try out some stuff though, and see if i can get used to carrying one of my fixed blades around.

i have a sweet little ckrt fixed falcon i woulndt mind having on me at all time, even though its pretty small.
