Funny Jubaji how you demand personal experiances here, but dismiss them as anecdotes and "Tales from your Uncle Earl" on other threads, I guess you attempt to use them when it fits your agenda.
I have been in altercations that resulted in a stabbing and a lifeflyte helicopter ride for a good friend, I have received stiches from 2x4 (thrown)
as well as tactically retreating from being outnumbered by multiple armed assailants (no shame)
I had a freind who is doing up to 25 years for "negligent manslaughter" when he killed a much larger man with a knife in a fight.
( its a good idea to learn the differance between "self defense", and "mutual combat" in the eyes of the law) .
Does any of this mean that training in weapons is futile or some kind of paranoid response intended to be a magic cure all for self defense situations?
Or that people who train in these arts will respond blade first?
or is it a response to the reality of what can happen in a worse case, albeit infrequent encounter in the real world?
All these incidents happened in my adolescent years before I took up martial arts. This is what happened to me as a wild in the streets kid,
I have seen people get jumped on by unknown people and continue to receive a beating after they went down FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
In light of my own personal experiances I will defend myself and those I care for who are unable to defend themselves by whatever means necessary rather than place life and health in the hands of someone else.
Here in Texas it is not uncommon for people, criminals and average everyday citizens to carry knifes, as a matter of fact I can never recall having seen a Bandido MC club member without a sheathed fixed blade knife on his person.
(I frequently attend Harley Davidson only drag races)
What would you say about someone that owned a firearm and did not go to the range to gain a familiarity, confidence & proficiency with that weapon Jubaji?
Answer that question please since I was kind enough to answer yours.
