Video of Jenny training at the beach 3/18/07

Galveston Island, Texas. It may not be one of the best beaches in the world, but it's still the beach nonetheless. Mousel's academy student, and grappling wiz, Jennifer Schlein is seen training in the basics of double sticks striking drills of Filipino Kali with Andrew and Myself.

Jenny says her weakest area is with the sticks. As one of her instructors, I'm going to see what I can do to help her disagree with that statement. She sure knows how to mop the floor up with some of the big boys when it comes to submission grappling. A real demon on the mat which is synonymous to what a tricky Filipino is like without all the dirty tricks. Well, almost all.... because even I myself got tricked into that d**n guiollotine choke of hers quite a few times. Yes I do admit that hahah. She loves training, and she lives for it.

Here's a video showing just what I'm talking about(filmed the same day as the previous video posting), and I'm not even cutting her any slack as we pummel for the dominant position in this range of grappling. We had our fun training, but I also learn quickly not to get carried away with having too much fun. Ever the opportunist, she takes advantage of every chance she can get to set-up one of her favorite holds. The Guillotine neck crank. I really DO respect her as a skilled grappler and martial arts student. The girl's got skills!

Last Sunday, we had a nice number of people that showed up to visit and practice with us on the beach. This Sunday will be the 4th Sunday in a row we're going back to the beach at the 13 Mile Rd beach street entrance at Beach Access Point #16 in under 10 miles west down the road of the west end Galveston Island Seawall Blvd and right before Galveston Island State Park & camping/RV grounds.

            from the morning...

            until the late afternoon...

the group gathering is informal. Anyone that practices or is curious enough to want to learn and train some FMA are welcome to come by. We'd love to meet with any local FMA practitioners from student to Guro from around and throughout Houston to Galveston if any are are available throughout the day to come join us.

Mousel's Mixed Martial Arts Academy opening by next week!

Im sick today. The new school is on the way to opening by this Monday.
We're pushing it and there's still lots more work to be done to finish
it up before opening it. We want it open fast! There's only a student
limit of 15 per class maximum and there are already students signing
up to reserve their spots !!!

I hope to be better by this afternoon so I can continue assisting Tim,
Jenny, Jason and the rest in getting the school ready. There's so much
more work to do and I'm so excited about it opening very soon! People
                are actually wanting to train.

The new school will mainly focus classes on MMA since it will be called "Mousel's Mixed Martial Arts Academy". Everything else such as the other individual arts like FMA and JKD and so on will still be available at the school but only on private lesson basis. I'll have me a place to still teach FMA at on-the-side around with the times of the MMA classes... and there also
will be "fight club" sessions for those students ranking from level 3
and up and to those who actually want to fight in the cage/ring/on the
mat that desire to compete in either chosen sportfighting event..

                This school is gonna rock!
