    They're called dummy cords for a reason. Unless you're working over water (and it's an expensive knife or your only one) it's one of the dumbest things you can do. To get the full benefit of the stupidity it's important to make sure you have a metal skull attached to the cord. Dummy cords hamper manipulation, get snagged on things and give an opponent a handle, they also keep a dropped knife swinging around your arm increasing your chances of injuring yourself.

    Static 67 on a fixed blade sheath is a completely different concept and also my favorite way to carry.
