All you need is love........and a sharp blade.....a hardwood flat stick......Oh, oh, oh and a Paraordinance lda 14.45 loaded with 230 grain hydra shocks, ranger SXT's or golden sabres
In Portland, these are the people that you want to hook up with. There are others, but these guys are the cream of the crop. Look no further (though they aren't easy to find....except the SBG).
I'll PM you with contact info later.
Best regards,

SBG doesn't do kali. No stick work at all.
Yes, I am aware of that. I included the SBG in the original posting (other thread) because I feel that (along with the others listed) it's one of the better places to train in Portland.
BTW, I recently heard through the grape vine that JD was teaching some classes there again.

any training partners in portland ergh in the area
lol thanks for your insights how do I find the SBG in beaverton its theoryiticaly close to my residense you guys got a addy or a phone number for there? another difficulty for me is not in ability or desire to learn it is mainly in finding someone to work and train with around here I went to deliver a message to proff trigg and got a very chilly reception from his students in particular how ever there were a few who were true good people very nice open and friendly willing to share thier love for the fma truely dissapointing was the demonstration of what trigg claimed to teach a bit of the vabrille/largusa kali which upon meeting with his training partner from hawaii proved to be an eyeopener I may be poor I may train by myself but I train more than most professionals do. I cant afford to pay an instructor but I can learn from a training partner as well actions many see ranks as being tested for the eventuality of sucessfull combative encounter I see a belt as something to help me protect myself from a knife or other wepon I care not for titles or good looking resumes but for the challenge and thrill of playing my tech against a worthy opponent well my search is not over so on to the next message board to check theren well all may peace favor your path and may you all find shade

There is a Shell station (if I remember correctly) on the corner of Canyon and Cedar Hills Blvd (near the railroad tracks). The Beaverton SBG is located on the street behind that gas station.

Excellent attitude! Exactly the way I think. I have your number and I'll give you a call next summer. I'll be stopping in on my way back from PI to visit some of my old friends around PDX.
BTW, I passed on your contact number to a few people. Apearently you had already been in contact with one of them over in Vancouver.
Anyway, best of luck to you.

Interesting, I thought he claimed to be the heir to Lameco Eskrima.......and LucayLucay Kali. Oh well. I never trained with him and I got a chilly reception from him when I met him at the Oregon Thai Boxing Association summer camp last year. He didn't like who I trained with so I guess that automatically put me out. I don't have any use for that kind of crap. I don't care who you are.
Don't listen to the trash talking and "Don't train with this guy" crap. Try everyone out for yourself and come to your own conclusions. There is only one person in Portland I would recommend you stay away from. Not because his combatives necessarily suck, but because he thinks he's a Warlock and is into the dark stuff. I know a lot of people who "use to" train with him. Everyone leaves on bad terms....unless your willing to be manipulated and are into the dark stuff.
As I said, best of luck.

from leonard triggs own bio
He is the President and Senior Instructor in the State of Oregon for Kali/Silat Villabrille/Largusa system under Professor Greg Lontayao.
acording to my teacher trigg isnt involved with the lontayao orginization and hasnt for quite a time teh reason I went to deliver teh message was cause my teacher wanted to chat with an old friend I was to pass on a message of a mutial promise to want good intrested students and not have the training be about the tuition it seems here in the mainland uninted states that there is such a relyance on money from the student that it borders on greed

Wow, I didn’t know that. He started teaching there last year. That must be the owners because that doesn’t sound like Preston. I guess that's what happens when you teach out of someone elses school.
admitedly I would have liked to play with preston and I like him he is a nice polite guy but what I saw him and his students practicing wasnt knife fighting like its is normaly its a variation of olympic one hand knife duel training now not much of that around or I would love to learn
He is a very good person and a good friend. I talked to him recently and he told me about what he was developing. Really a blend of WMA and FMA blade. I’ll be interested to see what he’s been up to next summer.
I sent JD your number, if you don’t hear from him, go talk to him at the Beaverton SBG on Thursday. If you can’t work something out with him, he should be able to point you to others. He has a good heart. I also gave your number to another friend who is learning but loves to train and is also a very true person.
Also, a Pekiti-Tirsia instructor moved to PDX after I left. I'll track down his contact info.
