  • Using chi

I'm curious to see what are other people's opinions on the "No-touch ki freeze" (for lack of a better term). I don't want this to turn into a discussion as to whether or not ninjitsu is practical, etc, but rather limited to this particular technique. I just wanna know if I stand alone.

It may be a good idea to explain the technique, I can geuss literally from the phrase but an explanation would be better.

      OK...

This started when someone asked me what I felt could be done with chi. I made the comment that (among other things) Hatsumi can use chi to take a man down w/o touching him from a short distance away. Furthermore, he also could use it to stop someone in their tracks who was moving towards him. Stephen Hayes has pictures of this in his more recent books and some of Hatumi's older videos show quick snippets of him performing this action.

That being said, I also made the claim that to my knowledge, he is the only person who understands how to do this. This study of chi is one of his 9 arts of which he is soke. At this time, he has not shared his knowlege on this subject with anyone becuase he does not feel any of his students are ready for it. More than likely, when he dies, it will die with him but the scrolls from which he learned it will remain for someone else to figure it out.

IMHO I can never say never, but I would have to see it to believe it. I know very little of ninjutsu but, in general, anyone stating they are capable of doing somthing like that and not providing demonstrations lacks credibility with me. I am a firm believer in the use of chi but throwing energy from a distance and immobalizing somone does not seem believable

will you quit with the yellowbambo scam?...jeez
anywho, as a practioner of yang style taichi, i do believe that once a certain skill level is reached the possibilites with chi/ki/qi are endless. but at the same time, i don't think someone who has just studied one art pertaining to the internal will accomplish this sort of act. i think you have to study multiple internal arts to even come close to "knocking someone away" with chi. do i think it's possible? yes i do. i believe that with the right training and with nothing being held back that you can reach the point of using chi in the physical. i don't believe though that you can have people like this "yellowbamboo" actually doing what they say they are doing. i have heard of masakis' "mystical" type of attacks and is one of the many reasons which i want to train with him. but as far as what jubijai or whatever was saying, i think he was just mocking the internal arts.

I personally believe about anything is possible, including energy type of attacks, mainly because people use so little of their potential. But if you wanna find out how to do what this guy does, try learning to control your own energy and chi, sensing the energy/chi of others, and try using your own to influence them, but as I said, it will probably take a ton of practice and focus, plus if something can be done, there is a way to stop it. My advice is, if you don't understand it, try taking it slowly.

Correct!!!! if ever you can throw energy(chi) from distance you can not knock-out even grasshopper, its not that strong yet it can move flames in a candle.....

chi projected into the hands (but it cannot projected out of palm for a matter of distance - that awesome power) is a very dangerous level of KungFu reached......

they are mostly used by the following KungFu Styles and Systems:
              1. Chin Na KungFu
              2. Praying Mantis KungFu
              3. Crane Style KungFu
              4. Snake Style KungFu
              5. Sword Finger Style KungFu
              6. Tai Chi Chuan KungFu
              etc, etc, etc,

i believe in ki, but im not sure about projecting it. this one time i was visualizing my feet absorbing ki from the ground (i was bored ok ) and i actually felt a weird feeling in my legs. But im not sure if that was ki or just my mind playing tricks on me. i believe ki can be used to increase physical performance, but im not too sure about knocking people down.

                        do aho

Its just this kind of nonsense that leads some people to dismiss all MAs out of hand. Ninjustsu is interesting enough without embellishment to recommend it as an area of study, and Mr. Hatsumi is impressive enough without childish fools painting a cape and boots on his picture.

Some people believe things that can't be proven as part of their spiritual tradition, and that is fine. However, believing things that could easily be proven but won't, is just dopey.

This no-touch ki attack stuff is a big, steaming pile of BS
