Boxing & Aikido
Here's my take on this whole discussion,
First let's assume all the variables are equal meaning
Boxer with x number of years experience and time to really hone his craft for the ring and the street.
Aikidoist with x number of yrs exp. and time to hone his craft for the dojo and the street as well.
Who would win? depends on the actual person who took their training and made it their own. Meaning who really looked at themselves and say You know what.. I love what I do,,, but.. I need to do this for my benefit not that of just basic boxing or that of a person whose studied aikido in the most traditional way.
I'd like to see a clip as well - but lets be real about this - are we going to see to people battle it out in the ring/mat/or street.. not sure..
I agree with both of you (let me elaborate b4 you guys beat on me now) a boxer skills are easier and quicker to learn (in my opinion) than that of a traditional aikidoist. Again it goes back to the point to the individual.
I do have a comment besides what I have written above,, not sure whom mentioned it but... I think a boxer would truly benefit from learning from a Wing Chun Stylist Trapping as this would give them a greater sense of sensitivity.
now you can blast me if you like and I'll be happy to retort.
