In the event there are hostilities, you are likely to hear "I'll kick your ass, *@#$^%" if anything. Later, you are unlikely to hear the same person say "I got into a confrontation today and I'm glad to say that my boxing worked", or "I used my boxing successfully". However, substitute the name of many MAs, and almost any TMA, and I'm sure you've all heard people say (or type) such things.

Why do you suppose that is?"

My uncle was a good boxer and I recall him saying he uses a short double barrel shotgun.

In my opinion Ju, the reason why is because (it seems to me that) about 99% of the hype is propaganda and bravado, in other words BS. With that said I also must admit that the other 1% is pure genius. Now that doesn't begin to balance the average so it's STILL UP TO THE READER to discern the gems from the swill...

its in the details dude...when you train where the guy WILL bite, WILL poke your eyes...WILL break your fingers...the holds are different...the body positioning is different and the way you enter with the opponent is different...those are things you cant change at will...how you train is how you react under stress...when you are fighting for your life you dont remember to do the technique different this time than the 3000 times you did it different in practice...

its the details that get you killed...think about tito in his street fight, he was knocked down with a punch....he got mad adrenalin kicked in and he jumped up like in the ring, because it was how he trains..it was HABIT from ring competition...it got him kicked in the face...his friends had to save him...what happened? he fought like he trained for the ring in a real fight..it got his ass kicked.

Ever heard of Frank Mir....he fought a fight with the ex champ...and mir is not a nice guy he put the move on with the intention of breaking it...and he did within like 2 seconds...he had the armbar applied to the forearm because tim twisted to try and escape....he broke his forearm in three places....and tore all the ligiments in his elbow...he had to get 3 titanium rods inserted into his forearm...and steel chips for his elbow while recooping for 6 months...all that damage in less then 2 seconds....now if you really wanted to do that on the street whats stopping you? ive never seen a badass marine pull off any killing moves in the street with his bare hands...but ive seen many many bones broken and people choked out cold in seconds...and this is supposted to be with rules in place brother .

Dude all that stuff is easily countered...if your on top of a guy in the mount or side mount...a simple eye gouge or bite or finger break woulnt do you any good unless you know what to do on the ground or standing and im positive that the drunk guy at the bar is not going to know how to fight on the floor....besides this is unlikely to happen bc you dont wanna take it there on purpose...but if it happens it happens.Dude btw you seem to forget that tito fought lee muray who is also a pro fighter...who was training in boxig when he fought tito...you act like it was some random joe.

Ever seen a guy beat the mma fighter who broke his arm in the ring? If the broken arm doesnt stop a ring fighter, you are in for a suprise with someone who intends you actual harm...remember people keep fighting after being SHOT and STABBED...but your mighty armbar is gonna end it huh? thats the mindset that gets people killed dude.

no its not easily countered...thats the ring talking again..also regardless of who it was TITO got up in a real fight like it was the ring and illegal to kick him ...ANYONE could have and would have kicked him in the face.

fine... we already established you train to beat up unarmed untrained joes in bars...have at it...that aint the martial arts though.

yea dude you seem to forget that it was not a joint that was broke it was a forearm...forearms dont move plus the adreline kicking in obviously you wouldnt be able to feel it till after the juice stops...besides it was a rare situation where the guy got right back up bc hes a great fighter with alot of heart...he was willing to risk his arm for the belt bro....i have not seen other people get up very often on their own afterwards.....ive seen about 30+ fights where people got something broken and out of that maybe around 3 or 4 got up...some guy on the street wil be finished and if hes not then follow it up its not that hard man...You claim Paul Vunak is about the best street guy uve seen and i agree....however even Vunak says when you break a guys arm he dont know very many people who can turn to the other side and hit you...fights over....Vunak himself said it...and Vunak knows the importance of learnining muay thai and bjj with Kino Mutati for the street tricks.

well you must suck at fighting because i can counter those things with ease..its hard against against someone who knows how to fight...not against some street punk dude.O and dude you ever seen Pride kicks and stops are LEGAL on the ground.....fighters counter them with ease...while others such as wanderli silva have them down to a science.

Vu has ANYTHING but a ring mindset...he advocates injuring your opponent as quickly and as many ways as possible...dont forget i wrestle and do JJJ and studied gjj...i would NEVER rely on either one to save my life...So people can fight through stab wounds and gunshots but not broken bones...hmmmph Whatever dude...glad you aint teaching my loved ones to survive an assault from someone bent on raping and killing them.

you teach your sons and daughters to do ring arts...I will teach mine Military H2H and the TMA's.

Dude youd be lost without your knives and weapons...that is your answer to everything.Different people have different needs....your interperation of martial arts and mine are different....you train to survive on the street because its part of your profession and your job attracts lowlifes with weapons so yes for you "sports fighting" will get you killed....but im not you dude.I train for comp and to beter myself as a human....its fun and safe and i love it...my job dose not surround me with dangerous dudes so for me becoming a weapons expert is a waste of time...i train weapons once and awhile and thas good enouh for me bro.Im finished with the discussion...its been fun ladies!!
