I would rather have a gun.

20+ years of training. . . whatever.. . how many people do you know have 20+ years of training and they still amount to nothing.

If he is a trained fighter and you have no experience sneaking up on people than using the gun may be a little hard depending on how close you have to get. Unless you can get him in his sleep.

I'm gonna go with 20+ years of training in my art.

LOL, you ever hear of a scope? At 200 yards with a 30.06 I have no need of sneakin up on anyone.

Sides I already have 23 years of training. LOL

Yeah but he specified hand gun. No handgun I ever heard of is accurate at 200 yards. Especially one you never fired before.

So is this hypothetical guy trying to fight us as well? And does he have the same options?

If he has the same options, I'm totally going with the gun thing because there is no way I'd want to fight him if he has a gun and is looking for me and all I've got is my MA training.

Mr. Miagi (the Karate Kid) said, "someone always know more."

I'll take the gun and/or knife, please. If I had to choose between the two weapons and the guy was not armed I'd rather have the knife.

Rex Applegate and WE Fairbairn said that an unarmed man has no certain defense against a knife in close combat.

As far as knife training goes: just check the murder rates with knives by completely untrained people. Generally, stabbing, cutting, and slashing works pretty effectively. It's intuitive and simple like all effective combat methods.

It is interesting that you say that. Think about how far our advances in weapon technology have come. Now think about how OLD knives are. It is pretty impressive that we still use them. That must say something about their functionality.

Obviously the gun, what the hell use is a gun disarm going to be from 10 feet+ away.
