Ok, I don't actually think that there is one best style of karate, but it is interesting to know what advantages some styles have over others. I mean karate has supposedly changed so much over the years who knows what some of us are missing in our style which could be in another style of karate.

I mean in another thread that talks about Isshinryu, i learnt that it contains low kicks, i talked to my sensei and he told me that they used to include low kicks such as low roundhouses in shukokai and wadoryu, but now these kicks have been banned from competition and only sweeps are taught that can be use low.

Thats the problem in a nutshell. Competition has taken over to the extent that the "dangerous" techniques get taken out.

Oh yes! Lets improve our martial art by training techniques that don't hurt, and discarding those that do!

I train in a japanese style called GoJu karate. For me it is a really good form of Martial Arts and i thoroughly enjoy it. It has help me grow throughout the years.

All karate styles were developed for kids. the first karate was very much like kung fu rite in okinawa, then they set out a curiculim they could teach kids which wasnt as violent. and this style has been brought down, so karate is basically just something for fitness not fighting
