Most serious martial artists I know cross train with firearms. This is the 21st century. Unarmed combat has been the thing you use to defend yourself whe you don't have a weapon. 700 years ago is was a sword or some kind of polearm, but today its firearms, knives and impact weapons, so those are the weapons I train with. Don't get me wrong, i like classical weapons, I have a really nice collection of them, but the chances of me having a katana or Pudao when someone tries to kill me or rape my wife are pretty slim. A 9mm, 12 ga. .357 mag, tacital folder, or 5 cell maglite on the other hand, are much more likely. The unarmed techniques I have learned have saved my ass a time or two, but so has having a 12 ga handy. Differnet situations call for differnet responses, and I like to have more than one tool. Some martial artists look down on guns and some gun guys look down on martial artists. I try to bridge that gap and explain that we are both working toward the same goal, to get ourselves home in one piece that night. I'm a modern guy and will use modern means of protection if necessary.

It's about giving the smaller weaker person the means and ability to protect herself from the bigger stronger person that would do her harm. It's about giving one person the skills and equipment to kill MANY enemies... It's a martial tool!

hunting is the most ridiculous sport,im no green peace but i hate it with all my heart..I mean you dress in BDUs carry a sniper rifles to shoot a rabbit or an innocent deer?Why you dont shoot cans or do target practice instead? what satisfaction do u get out of killing an innofensive animal??I have no damn respect for any freakin hunter no matter what kind!!

In the days when "NOBLE" warriors used swords they did use them from the vehicles of the day be it horseback or chariot. But there was another kind of warrior called the ARCHER that would be just as respected and even MORE FEARED for his ability to kill from long range (AND HUNTING )

Shurikenjutsu was the art of throwing dirks and knives to kill from a distance

By the way, Samurai used guns too. (Tanzutsu)

See Kyujutsu (archery) and Hojutsu (Gunnery)

While the sword is still ROMANTICIZED for it's craft the really deadly arts are limited to modern warriors. Rocketry and mortars, gunnery and artillery have little use to civilians outside of hunting and personal defense... I think it's a tad more realistic these days to use a pistol than a sword myself.

You would if you where hungry….but I don’t like the sport either but I use to love it as a kid. I don’t have the stomach for it anymore. I just brought it up to illustrate how difficult shooting is. You’ve never shot a gun at a live target before, have you? It's not easy; it moves a lot, depending on what you're hunting.

i was refering to hunting as a sport in case you didnt notice..so what, all of a sudden your mad because ive shown you the reality of how cowardly it is to snipe a rabbit from a mile away or dress as a tree and jump on a deer with a shotgun..?
