Had Bruce lived, he would have with drawn completely from the martial arts community
and turned everything over to Inosanto.
Bruce would have become a mainstream actor, director, writer, and producer.
I don't think he really liked the martial arts subculture, and I think he was sick ot it even as he left for China. I am sure a 70-year old Bruce would still be training and able to kick most asses, but he would be far beyond the black belt community at this stage of life.

Bruce Lee was not a person known for his laying down on the floor and wadling like a pig with another person fighting.

He was not one to be aggressive and want to start fights.

If he got down he knew how to get up and stand fighting on his feet.

Lee did not go for a bunch of trophies and hype.

But he did make money showing off in his movies.

Waddling like a pig on the floor? What are you talking about?

I am going to say that if BJ Penn and Lee fought, and Penn got Lee to the ground, Lee, with his knowledge would not get up off the mat until he tapped or went to sleep.

Lee clealy did like showing off, as his appearances at tournaments, and interviews on TV demonstrated.

I am not entirely sure what you are trying say here but perhaps you could be clearer.

You do not know all that Lee knew, or all of his abilities... that is for sure.

It is easy to speculate and guess if it makes you feel better.
No one will ever know for sure ... not even you.

All that I have said is in response to all the other peoples posts in this thread.
Go back and read them ... not just mine ... and you may understand where I am coming from.

Nor have I ever claimed to know all that Lee knew. However you made some silly comments about grappling I thought I should address. So I did. Waddling around on the ground indeed. Lee was, according Dan Inosanto, only beginning to explore grappling before he died. They did not train it realistically. This is according to Dan.

                  I agree and disagree.

Yes, Bruce would have stayed in the film industry; probably as a director, but MMA would provide a amusing arena for him to test many theories. A colleague of Bruce once stated that Bruce was very interested in other's experiences in fights and competition. This is evident through Bruce Lee's tutelage of Joe Lewis, Chuck Norris and Mike Stone in karate competitions.

Understand that Bruce Lee loved martial arts, but he firmly understood that the only way to "grow" its appeal and credibility was through film. His vision was to bring martial arts to the foreground and this could only be achieved through movies.

Put it this way; had Bruce Lee become a full-contact kickboxing champion, no one would be talking about him right now. He would be as obscure as Joe Lewis, Mike Stone, Benny the Jet, etc.. is to the average citizen.

Bruce Lee made martial arts mainstream... That is his greatest contribution.
