I think studying other arts before JKD would be very benificial. You could do some basic boxing and some wing chun for trapping, maybe some kickboxing. Although of course it's not a must, i think it definately would be a good idea.
I don't think TKD would be a very good choice though, better off with Thai boxing if you want to work on your kicks. I say this because Thai is more commonly found in JKD interpretations as opposed to TKD.

They say its easier to teach JKD to someone with no experience because "they just do" and they don't have their other arts in their way.

Some guys say there may be Jun Fan without JKD but there is no JKD without Jun Fan. From that viewpoint, doing JKD as your first MA your first MA would in fact be Jun Fan Gung Fu.
So that would more or less mean the 2/3 of the Wing Chun system that Bruce Lee found practical as your first art.
This also makes sense in terms of distances: One of them is the trapping distance - obviously one needs to learn a at least some part of a system that works with trapping techniques.
And especially for Brithai: I don't mean over-complicated fancy trapping that only works with a partner that freezes his actions. In fact I couldn't imagine how trapping should ever be able to work with somebody who stops his action. Trapping - and especially non-classical trapping works on the basis of loading up a certain amount of pressure and counterpressure.
