  • Strike Force Gym is Born!

Hi everyone just wanted everyone to tell everyone the news. I had the opportunity to buy a full gym and tanning place. It's a long story on how i got into it but it have a massive amount of free weights, 3 or 4 sets of dumbells up to 120lbs. A complete cybex and nautilus circuit and one other circuit as well. and a cardio room complete with ellipticals.

Although after moving back I found my martial arts school had had a rough time in my absence I'm sure with the new facility we will grow.

We are in the beginning stages of teaching a more alive type training. Until now it has just been instructors working out in private.

Does anybody have any ideas for some fast moneymakers. I opened this thing with 1 week notice and really am doing some tricks to make it work.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

I can't wait to play with all my new toys. I was told that when the stuff was brand new it was over 400K worth of equipment. But i'm getting a really good deal.

Wow sounds great! Do some heavy advertising and continue advertising at least once a year but I would do it a few times and use several different types of advertising. Offer a special to get people in the door.

      Excessive,

Hey, that's great... I started my career in Promotional Marketing, so maybe I can be of help. The thing to do is as much self-promotion as possible. Buy TV spots, radio, hold demonstrations... This sort of thing gives you exposure.

Advertise your assets: Full Weight Room, Tanning, Indoor pool, showers, etc... Spice things up. People are interested in Ammenities.

Offer discounts, packages, free demonstrations, etc... For instance, My gym once ran this promotion: $19.95 for 3 lessons and a T-shirt. We made lots of money even though many people ultimately didn't join the gym. If I remembe correctly, about 20 people tried out right away—that's $399 within 2 weeks time. However, NEVER mention contracts or anything binding... Customers HATE that.

Bottomline: If enough people hear about a gym, they're more likely to try it. Use marketing strategies to get people interested.

change the name, and get yoga classes!

lol. Check out local high schools and offer lower rates to high school students (they won't have as much money but they are potential customers). Maybe offer a discounted rate to students at your Tae Kwon Do school. Discounts rock my face off, and most gyms are over-priced anyways.

Maybe hold a bench press competition or something with a 10 dollar entry fee.... just small fun ideas.

Hey sounds like you got something great going on! I'd think you should really boast your cardio room. I know at least here in my college that people love the idea of "cardio kickboxing" they host special seminars and it's always packed. Of course cardio kickboxing is basically "Tae Bo" but you can create your own program of course. Something I learned when taking martial arts is that not everyone is there to be a fighter, some just love the workouts. That's why our martial arts club here sucks because most people who look into it want a workout and not sparring sessions. Oh well.

I wouldn't let Sage give you marketing advice XF. Never know when he's gonna snap and go on a rampage calling all of your people racists.

            Proceed at your own risk.

I don't mind being called names.

I earn a lot of it, and all of it is amusing Internet Drivel.

I used to think the guy was ok.

However, what Sage pulled was about as worthless as someone can get.

                    Cheap Exposure!!!

                    Dear Sir,

The corporation I oversee is great with cheap, effective marketing. Got a duplicator (?) they make 500 copies for about a dollar...offer to help the local high school save some money (odds are they need it)!
How? Well, print the monthly lunch menu and add coupons to it as well as special promo advertising. Not only will you spread your name to potentially thousands monthly but you also gain the title "Partner in Education" you even get a plaque to hang in your gym!
Offer free passes to community drives...offer year membership to the local auxilary for their quarterly auction...right after football season ends hold an event (ma demo, tournament, max contest, ect.) call the sports editor of the local paper and the sports editor from all local TV stations and notify them of a press release. This time of year they are hurting for stories as football has ended and Bball is barely underway...often they print a full article or do a news story...FREE PUBLICITY to the masses.
Have a spinathon for a charity fund raiser!
It will amaze you how much you can gain by giving away!

                    Best Wishes!
