  • I was referring to Z's post.

    It doesn't make sense.

First super high intensity aerobic exercise is a contradiction in terms.

    Sprinting for instance is Anaerobic
    Long slow distance is aerobic.

Weight lifting for weight loss is Anaerobic

Think of all those fat people who do aerobics. And after a year they are still fat.

Aerobic is not the answer to fat loss.

            • when you add hit to weight lifting you can greatly speed up fat loss.

Mike Cosgrove came up with the program Afterburn and from the trainers I've talked to they like afterburn a lot and some have even stopped using body for life as a model and instead use it.

As I said though both are good programs.

                    • hey excessiveforce, you are an idiot......just because you own your own gym that doesnt make you a fitness guru. you said low intensity - long time isnt for fat loss......you just disagreed with every kinesiologist in america you monkey. weight lifting, high intensity work, low intensity work all burn calories

for the first three minutes of low intensity cardio, you are burning carbs, after that it is a combo of carbs and stored fat, the longer you go, the higher percentage of fat that will be burned.

high intensity work ex sprinting, is relying more on atp (adenosine tri phosphate) and creatine phosphate.

that is coming right out of the book bub.

i was quoting acadamian, my mistake. i know, i know, high intensity activities from 10 sec - 2 minutes are anaerobic....blah blah blah

                        • The most basic way to describe exercise is as follows:

                          Aerobic: burns fat

                          Anaerobic: burns glucose

                          • Go check out NASM (national academy of sports medicine) you might learn something.

You can lose fat by starving yourself but it isn't the best way. Because you are going to lose muscle at the same time.

Since I train people all the time I know what works. HIIT works, I was a runner and long slow distance doesn't. It depletes muscle mass. It is not suitable for combat athletes.

Fat loss during exercise vs. fat loss all day long. take your pick. I'll take the one that works faster and takes much less time to do.

who gives a shit about HIIT. the bottom line is long period activity is better for FAT LOSS. i personally would rather die than walk on a tredmill for an hour. lets refer to, oh lets say - ronnie coleman! on his unbelievable video, he walks, not runs, not HIIT or whatever, but walks for an hour in the morning on his tredmill. he may also do it at night i cant remember.

to conclude, walking for a long time is for fat loss, i am sure this HIIT thing is overall much better for you because of gains other than fat loss, ( explosion power, endurance, overall physical health - i am not familiar with it so i am just assuming ) but for pure fat loss, low intensity exercise for long periods of time is best.
