  • Hand Worries!!!!!!!!!

i just wondered if anyone has knocked there knuckles back during training in TKD or any other Martial Art and is it a form of hand conditioning, is it normal? and will it cause any problems later in life!!!!! is there any way of correcting them ?????

I remember my TKD instructor had very caloused hands from punching trees and rocks (no kidding)... Later in life, he had arthritis... Toughening hands isn't the best idea in the world.

        Hi Ironfist1989,

I'm having some serious hand problems at the moment due to too much breaking and hand conditioning. I really wouldn't advise any form of hand conditioning at all.

By the way, Ironfist, you have one of the best (if not the best) TKD Instructors in the UK, that being Mr Cockburn (GTI). I was priviliged to do all my pre-grades with him and for him to be on my BB grading panel. Is that who you train under?

        Take care,

        Garth.

Hmmm, lots of these ---> !!!!!!!! hope I didn't offend!

I take it then that you belong to the TAGB then, rather than the GTI, which I incorrectly assumed?

Out of interest, what does your instructor advise you do, in terms of hand conditioning?

Oh, and if you get the chance to see your Chairman, Mr Dave Oliver, perform breaking, go and watch, he's pretty impressive!

            Take care,

            Garth.

My instructer said that you will come across a kind of conditioning when my grading requires destruction, which is knuckle push-ups on hard floor, and various things i cannot remember but i don't think its something i need to do every time i think its something thats occuring when i have destruction in my grading
