  • Triple Kick

Well, as of late I have been attempting a triple kick. Unfortunately, I can only ever get the first two. I feel that, by all strains of logic, I should physically be able to do the kick. I am not very strong, but I am generally fast, flexible, and light-weight.

I keep trying, but I can barely manage the first two. Also, when I practice in the air, on the rare occasion that I actually am able to kick the third time, the kicks are usually less than three inches off the ground.

My teacher has given me instruction after instruction, which I try to follow. Others my size around me seem to be progressing.

    Any advice?

      Triple Kick!

      Dear Sir,

My logic tells me that you may not be quite ready for the flying triple kick if you are not comfortble with the initial two...does that sound logical?

Email me more info about your endevor so that we do not have to listen to the ignorance of others!

you are not ready for the triple kick quit yet. heres a tip that I learned (but can't do yet) from actual Muay Thai boxers.

        1. Stretch very morning and night
        2. Jump with a backpack filled with weight or heavy stuff in it or even ankle weights would work.
3.Do double kick until you master it
        4. and last, your feet are your friends master foot techniques first.

but I can't do a triple or a double kick yet lol I need to start doing this good luck

do any of u care to tell me what a triple kick is? Is it more complicated than kicking in the air 3X in a row?

Cause i used to take TKD, and mite be able to shed some light on this if i knew what u were talking about.

are you doing this "triple kick" for some type of gymnastic tkd competition?

or are you trying to apply it to actual fighting?

also, why is it that when i do squats i can smell my butt?

why doesnt someone take this computer away from me?

why is charlie short for charles...and yet they have the same amount of letters?

              1. Yes

              2. You do not wipe correctly.

              3. Personal property law.

              4. Names ending in vowels sound shorter and more cute-sy.

Your reasons for wanting to learn this are your own, nobody has the right to criticise you. If it is something that would make you happy or help your career or whatever, then practice until you get it and dont give up. Everything I learned I learned from hundreds of attempts. Things I thought were impossible really are not, your body just has to map the action in your brain and sometimes that takes a lot of trying over and over. What feels impossible now will eventually feel natural and easy.

Triple front snap is done using a trick, your first kick is executed while starting your jump from a one leg take off (your lead leg). Many people think you jump from 2 legs and then lash out 3 times, that is possible but to me looks sloppy and is more difficult. Its pretty smooth if you bring your back leg forward (knee up) and as you snap out the first kick you are jumping up off your lead leg by springing up with the momentum of your back leg kick bringing you up, then you just do a regular double front snap. Really hard to teach this in words... if you cant picture what I'm saying then its no help at all heh.

damian has got it right. do a regular jumping front kick and add the extra kick while still in the air. the first kick is not actually in the air. first do a frontkick with your lead leg while still on the ground. then as that kick has ended jump with the other foot and throw another front kick and just as you come down throw the last front snap kick. if you started with your right leg back that is the foot you will land on with the other still in the air executing the last kick.

Yes as the others had said: First Kick is trown AS you leave the ground, second should be timed near your max height of the jump and the third is thrown as you are decsending. Now if you are a good jumper and have good vertical abilities, this kick can be performed at full height of the jump. I would suggest some calf strength exercizes and lots of speed kicking on a heavy bag. Doing these will increase your vert and help you speed up your kicks.

Doing 3 kicks in a row in the air is not very effective for fighting unnless for some reason you are extremely fast and extremely strong. But I dounbt many people can pull this off in a fight, maybe but very rare.

The tripple kick I know of is not what your trying to do. A double kick is like 2 round kicks or front kicks in the air which actually works. Your body is low to the ground and your feet hardly even move off the ground because this generates speed and power. Jumping high loses it.
To do a tripple kick you do a regular double kick and when your first kicking foot hits the ground spring off of it again to deliver the 3rd kick.

See you land on the ground and spring off of your foot to do the 3rd kick and it works and is effective. You can change it up to deliver the last kick to the head to fake out people as well. You can do combos of low, mid, and face kicks. Or 2 round kicks and the last one axe kick. Or whatever!

This kick is easy. If you can master the double the 3rd kick is simple. DOnt worry about XMA crap, focus on realistic things.

TRIPLE KICK : the most unrealistic technique known to tkd. Its up there with the backflip kick. spend time perfecting techniques which will help u in the future instead of learning something that might look impressive to the beginner.

Maybe there is another tripple kick, because the one I am thinking about is effective and has nothing to do with flying in the air.
