Heya, I just finished shooting an action movie in Thailand, I was the main villain and used a fair amount of TKD during my fight scenes. Here's a few pics.
Sweet! Whats the movie called and when can I expect to see it in Europe? Or at least get it through amazon.
Also I'm an aspiring actor (just got accepted into acting school on friday! BOOYA!) so I'm intruiged, are you an actor who does martial arts or a martial artist who acts?
Hey, the movie is called Hanuman and it stars Sonram (famous Thai singer and actor). Not sure if it will make it to Europe, but I know little of how Asian movies get around. I do know that Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia have already purchased the movie to show it there so Im really happy about that at least. Would be nice if it goes to even more countries outside Thailand.
I have always had an interest in working in movies... but always thought it was a pipe dream until I saw an opportunity to get involved. I'll be honest, truthfully I was a martial artist who got into acting. I started out as a stuntman (hence the martial arts first) and also did commercials but commercials arent really a big deal, to me movies are where its at. After working as a stuntman a few times I wanted to act more and started going to castings that were straight acting with no action and I won a few, but at first I was pretty bad (good enough to win but still not so good heh), not saying I'm great now but you learn ALOT going to lots of castings and then actually working on movies and learning as you do scene after scene. Learning to relax in front of the camera is the biggest thing I learned, once you do that I think it's easy to portray emotions and do a good job. This last role was an acting role but with a heavy action part since well... its an action movie and I'm the bad guy doing all kinds of bad violent things. But I had more actual acting in this movie than any other... think I had like 30 lines (in Thai and English), was a great opportunity for me.
Sorry for all the info, I figured maybe it might help you in some way since you want to start acting. I'm in no way an expert, but I do have a good amount of professional experience under my belt now, Id like to be a really good actor one day and do very difficult parts.
Thanks very much for the info. I've been acting all my life basically and I love it, but last year I finished my A-Levels and decided to go to drama school. I've been auditioning since december and I've learnt so much from that alone. Now that I'm in one (The Actor Works, Wapping, London) I'm over the goddamned moon .
Dude, holy crap, I just put that information up like 2 hours ago... wow, ya thats me. It said it would take 72 hours but guess they are faster than they thought!
Ah the pics are up but not the resume, guess that will be a few days.
Not to hurt your feelings or anything....is this gonna fall into the category of awesomely bad action flix one has to have? (I am collecting those - don't ask! )
Good question.... the action is pretty good, I'm ok but my 2 gang members and the stunt double for the hero were amazingly good, the story... I have no idea how the story will come out... its hard to tell until its all edited together, for me at least.
My character has powers from the Tiger god so they made me up like a tiger.... was a pain getting the makeup and hair done every morning at 6am....
Well if my acting career goes down that path you will be the first I tell about it!
Funny.... I am right this second leaving for the premier of this movie and I see your comment... talk about coincidence.... I'm about to find out how good or bad the movie is as well as my performance..... I'm nervous.

Honour TKD Thailand
Hanuman is a great character from the hindu scripture.
Is it really so new to have TKD in action movies? Don't they all tend to have at least one guy doing loads of jumpy-snappy-kicks?
