depends what you want to take martial arts for I guess. If you want to take it for peace and love and all that hippie crap I guess Kung Fu is pretty good. If you want to learn how to fight or how to defend yourself find something else.

          • Manufest,

I will tell you frankly that knife hand blocks and such will get you nowhere... In fact, most TKD techniques will get you nowhere. Why? They lack realistic approach.

I can also honestly tell you that I've trained with Koreans who were world class athletes and Muay Thai guys who were amateurs... The MT guys were much harder to spar. The Koreans have quick footwork, good power and distance management, but their techniques cannot deal with MT kicks, elbows and knees. Put a TKD guy in a MT clinch and he's done for.

Myself, I've done the TKD tournament thing since I was 7 or 8... and NEVER lost a match. But the real eye-opener was when I was in MN and witnessed some Muay Thai. The kicks were devastating. I got the chance to work out with one guy for several weeks and I learned really fast, how incredible MT can be.

Anyhow, you would do well to investigate Muay Thai before you cling on to TKD...

That's the whole point of Muay Thai and that's why few people can measure up...

Yea I do MT and that's how we spar, but manufest was acting like they do that in TKD.

Surely there is not someone that has not heard of MT. There is plenty of kickboxing in Canada.

Is there anything better than TKD or Hapkido to improve your skills..........ummmmm let's see..........let's try ANYTHING!!!!!

Just one of the reasons TKD can't measure up to MT.....the list is getting longer
