Funny you should say that, we've been practicing some of the kung-fu slappy-slappy hand techniques lately, which I think have some validity. Every now and then somebody will haul off and throw in a high kick and disrupt the whole rythm and it very quickly reverts to kickboxing.

Funny you should mention Kung Fu. Years ago, a friend of mine and I were watching this documentary called Fighting Black Kings about black belts in different arts competing in an open karate tournament. Almost all the fighters were decent enough and could contact fairly well. Except the Kung Fu guys. Their technique was no power, and most of them ended up getting carried off the mat because they got knocked out. Not to say all Kung Fu guys are like that, but those guys were pretty bad.

ya ya whatever Sherwinc... anyway, I wasn't saying I though kungfu was crap, only that their attitude was ridiculous. Most of them honestly believe that with absolutely no sparring practice, no contact training and nothing but forms and partner drills they could go into the ufc and defeat everyone.... only they won't do that because their art is too deadly.

I've never seen any Chinese Practitioners who fights in the UFC (with no gloves) fights using the Southern Eagle Claw style/system of KungFu

that the point is - you dont understand others art, yes, you only know your own weakness as well as your art.

Here is an elementary lesson just for you:
1. If you know your art and you know others art = you will surely win the fight.
2. If you know your art while you dont know other's art = the fight would be 50% loss or 50% win.
3. If you dont know your art while you know other's art = it is a battle of luck!!!!
4. If you dont know your art while you also dont know other's art = the fight doesnt start yet but you are already loss/dead/dis-abled.

Note:
If you dont know other's art, it is easy to say "That art is STUPID! NONSENCE! or whatever.

Moral Lesson For You:

In KungFu, the more the advance level that you learn are the more you are not accepting especially when challenged to fight. It does not need to prove that you are good cause you know that you are so good.

same as the devil tempted Jesus Christ on top of the mountain to jump below to prove that he is God, then Jesus would not afraid to jump, but Jesus dont do jump cause He know that He is God and it doesnt need to prove it,

that is the reason why most old chinese kungfu doesnt join UFC or else, a DELAYED DEATH TOUCH will suffer the non-kungfu martial artists.

I know that my hands are capable to pick up this ballpen beside my monitor, but it doesnt need to show to others to convinced themselves that i can prove to them that my hands can really pick up this ballpen.
