    Glasses, Contacts & Lasik

I have glasses but only require them for driving and admiring views. I remove them before training so they don’t get scratched. However, the newest pair has a high safety rating so I'm not too worried about them shattering.

Now that I think about it more, that sparring partner didn’t always remove his contacts. Sometimes they would get knocked out, and it was a nuisance for everyone to stop and crawl over the carpet looking for them.

eXcessiveForce, what do you think of lasik so far? Has anyone else had it?

My wife works in lasik surgery, and the results for those that it is intended for are remarkably good.

it's been okay, they made me far sighted by a little bit. Did an enhancement and i'm still farsighted by a little. But i'm functional. I only did one eye because i'm a coward and couldn't be without the ability to read for very long.
At somepoint i'll do another enhancement if I can. if that works I might do the other eye.

I wear my soft contacts when training. For just normal training, they are fine. I normally wear them all day at work, and then keep them on fro training in the evening. However, I find that when I grapple, there is a chance of a lens getting knocked out when someone pushes their arm against my face. I've also had them knocked out whilst sparring.

I can get away with not wearing contacts when training. I can make out people. Just don't ask me to read a whiteboard, or to look at the clock and tell you what the time is!

Yeah, thats about the only problem I had with contacts, they get knocked out all the time.

better learn to dodge soon. its getting expensive..

. . .and you never once crushed them while rolling? Not even when put into a headmount? Or crossfaced? That's a tough pair o'glasses you got there . . .

Get contacts, or wrestle without vision correction.

Oops, typo. I ment I wrestle with contacts. Wrestling with contacts won't screw up your eyes will it?
