I've actually heard 2 locks referred to as an americana, but I think what most people are referring to is if you have the guy in your guard you would, for example, and he had his hands on the ground for support, grab his right wrist with your left hand, sit up into him and bring your right hand goes over his tricep, and under his forearm to your own left wrist. (his right shoulder would kind of be in your right armpit) Sit back, and bring your hands toward your right shoulder at a 45 degree angle. It's a shoulder lock.(you are cranking his arm behind his back, toward his head)

(I just re-read this, and it's a pretty sorry description, but I think you get the idea).

Has anyone tried a "Further" nelson crank from side control? It's a high percentage move that's pretty cool.

I like that one and neck cranks from side control (steering wheel, crucifix, etc..).

So many guys defend their arms that they forget about their necks.

Edro, Gene actually uses that one a lot, also lots of judoka and wrestlers You should have gotten the copyright when you could have haha.
I've heard it called "American lock", but am not sure what it's truly called.
Sorry though, grapplers have been using it for years. Myself included, I love it.
But think of it this way, if you are coming up with moves that work, and that other grapplers are using, you must be doing something right!

We do that lock in Shooto. It's in the first lock combo along with one or two other variations. LeBell demonstrates it in is Grappling Master book. Guy Chase demonstrates it on his web page in the Catch-as-Catch-Can section. It may be western in origin or just another perenial technique.
