  • Why No Chinese in the Fighting sport

How come you don't see any Chinese in the Fighting Sports?
Are they to busy moving to California and driving black Mercedes Benz?

Considering that the fighting arts where practically born in China you would think they would be dominating the sport.

Not the ones used in MMA.

There are tournaments but I guess it depends on which tornaments you are referring to. And please we can do without the lame stereotyping.....one day when you grow-up about 20 years from now you will get a shiny 2004 black mercedes at a junk yard near you.

I'm not falling into that "Typing" proliferation trap thread
          Nice try

Anyway Chinese arts and everyone else could click up to kill mod and that's generally true for Chinese arts even more, but modified to sporting rules...... no

            ...

I wish the people that constantly theorize about Kung Fu/Karate/etc. being affective in the ring would stop theorizing and just train and prove it.

            Later...

cause kungfu instructor teach us for self-defense, etc..... and not for hurting someone that is not needed thru commercial purposes......

              note:
the truely important thing for me is that public people will know that you are weak but they dont know that you are a brutal opponent.....

              note:
and besides..... ringfights has a tremendous amount of rules..... kungfu will only defeat cause all of its hand attacks are all foul to the decision of the referee.....

              note:
especially..... if kungfu is not satisfied in a fight, they hand a broadsword and fight you in a weapons category...... twin hooked sword or 9-sectional whip.... this is also foul to the referees decision.....

              note:
so, the result is, the fight doesnt start yet but the kungfu is already defeat....

Well what about San Shou? There are some good fighters from china fighting, but of course they are not free to leave anytime they like to fight in the west and make names for themselves now are they?

Besides MAs really came from places like India Dharmarama (sp?) Was Indian, so by using Maui Jim criteria where are all the great Indian fighters?

                      Extremely Wrong!!!!!

if you insist this, then whose the first descendants of man on this world??? The answer is the Australipithicus (Australians) and the Peking Man (Chinese)
they are both fighters to hunt wild animals on thier early world....

                      then......

your great Indian fighters from where Dharmarama came from (their fighting art came back to China and Australia)

so by using my criteria where are all the great Chinese and Australian Fighters!!!!

i hope you don't take offense sherwinc as this is merely a question of fact. it is believed that the oldest ancestors of man came from africa. i will not go into much detail but it is in africa that they found the oldest footstep of a hominid. following your logic, that makes us all africans.

the analogy is really flawed. if you are to make an arguement based on evolution, then you must take in all the components of evolution, the most influential of which is the environment.

granting without conceeding for example that the chinese, filipinos, and the chamorros evolved from peking man, we must take into account that the chinese, filipinos and chamorros have evolved to be such because of their environment over the past thousands of years. as such, we have to acknowledge that not only are the chinese, filipinos, and chamorros different from one another; they are different from the peking man.

just sounding in man. peace dude!

in Science, to see is to believe.... and science have a lot of plenty fossils as an evidence that there is really an evolution...... if not, then how can you explain when you go to museum and see that fossils?????

or maybe there are aliens died a long time ago that their fossils remains?????

I've been to China on two occassions to study martial arts and the people and culture are really reserved. I'm not surprised that the Chinese aren't interested in MMA outside of their country. There's an attitude about this sort of thing...Besides, the government would have to get involved. But that's another story.

Having made some good Chinese friends over the years, I don't appreciate stereotypical comments regarding the Chinese, or any race... Most Chinese don't appreciate being put into the "kung-fu box" that most westerners constantly identify them with. The attitude that we Westerners have has long reflected a negative image across the globe...
