While I have enjoyed this conversation with the three of you, I really posted that more to make the following point.

HandtoHand and Emptyness are never going to agree. They seem to respect each others opinions, but at their core they look at the world different. If these two had to make decisions in tandom we probably wouldn't get anything done. They aren't effective at solving problems together because they cancel each other out probably on everything. They are Yin and Yang

On the other hand both seem to interact with Mike in a non-argumenative manor even if they don't agree with him.

This is a very simplified metaphor for the problems that plague our political process. HandtoHand and Emptyness will always disagree, that's why you need a Mike type to serve as a mediator. Mike doesn't seem to subscribe blindly to one thing or the other, he just seems to feel strongly about individual issues and he even acknowledges the strengths in positions he disagrees with. The problem is we have a lot of HandtoHands, and a lot of Emptyness', but very few if any Mike's.

My point is that we need a third viable political party. I think a third party will alleviate the crap that the big two keep throwing at us. I don't want the Ralph Nader smoke pot party, I want a party with a real platform that others can believe in. I know that this is highly unlikely, but it would at least be nice to have some moderates on both sides that can get 'er done.

I'm not trying to say Mike is the best type of person in the world, or that HandtoHand and Emptyness are bad for their strong beliefs, I just wanted to point out how ironic it is that our discussion on politics has become guilty of being as closed minded as most politicians.

I can't exclude myself from this, so here is my honest critique. I like to think I'm middle of the road, but I periodically get pissed at watching the news and think that we should just turn the entire middle east into one big ass 7-11. I'm a hippy with destructive tendencies

well u know, i disagree with alot of people, and im sure others disagree with me, and thats cool. thats what a forum is for, to talk about things. im all for it. however, h+h is bitter about the marijuana thread so he likes to personally attack me. sure he will deny it but all u gotta do is look at his posts and see all his personal attacks and putdowns, yet he insists im the one who is an angry person lol. thats why i dont mind talkin with mike and uber, they can have a discussion without having to say lame shit and personally attack others and be dick. if u wanna do that its cool, but thats when i stop takin u seriously. i wont respond to another post of h+h's because id rather talk to people who arent negative. i would rather have a true exchange of ideas with somene chill who doesnt need to put down others, make bs false assumptions about people, and twist up the things they say to feed his personal attacks.

sadr is a douche man. he speaks up and says shit like he is willing to fight till his last drop of blood, then when he is about to get served, he quickly negotiates a peace deal to save his ass, then breaks the deal and the cycle restarts. what he is doing now seems like he is just trying to save his ass from going to jail for the murder of the other cleric he was responsible for.

You should get along with each, but not to much. If you start cuddling I'm going to puke.

You know what's really missing, the good 'ole days before the CIA was stripped of it's resources. I miss the days when bad guys met there doom in some freak accident before we had even heard of them. Instead of spending money on killing these aholes the prior administration invested all their funds on trying to get a stain out of a dress.

I hate that I even know al-Sadr's name. Since I do, you are right Mike killing him would have only made him a martyr. Now he's been de-balled in the eyes of his folks and probably no longer has a lot of influence. If after a few months he dies in a freak camel riding accident I'll know that all is right in the world again.

Mike, I would be very interested in the author of the book you mentioned. I love history, especially the kind of history that has helped to save millions of American lives over the year.

HandtoHand, I think you, me, and Mike all agree that this bastard needs to die, he just doesn't need to die right now. I want his life to end while he is sleeping somewhere he feels is absolutely safe, some where that he thinks we can't get to him. His accidental death will send a great message to the rest of the world, even if it's a real accident they will think it was the CIA.

The world knows that we can destroy anyone that we see fit, but they also know that we operate under certain rules that don't allow us to be ruthless. War is a PR nightmare for us, so we have to be careful. If the world thinks the cuffs are off the CIA and they are operating at full capacity again, they will be concerned. These rules that we follow when we are being watched by the world probably aren't the same as the rules followed by a group that can kill someone and have complete deniability. Covert is the way to go my friend.

HandtoHand, you are on the money. How the hell can we scream about homeland security when any hispanic or mothercanucker can roll on in. I was pissed at the fact that Bush voted to give work visas to 5mm illegals. That's like rewarding people for breaking the law. We have to close the borders. I'm not one of these foreigners are evil guys, I don't care were you come from so long as you get here by legal means.

                          Mike, thanks for the info.
