WOW..hapkido has really changed in the last few years. >>I always said that hapkido's true roots were in ancient thailand. Glad to see a return to the real style. HAPKIDO RULES!

That was BJJ? I've seen and practiced BJJ. He's like a white belt right?

That must've been the shitiest takedown I've ever seen. He doesn't even grab a leg after he gets close. He just shoots in and then turtles up. And that doesn't count since he was asian. A BJJ fight only counts when the fighter has brazillian blood in him .

The fight counts, but the BJJ guy was rather passive compared to other BJJ fighters in events like UFC, Pride and KOTC. I don't understand Korean, but can anyone verify what the BJJ guys rank was? I hold a black brown belt in HKD and trained hard for about 5 years and can honestly say that the skill level in terms of grappling and takedowns is somewhere between a BJJ white belt and blue belt. That level in BJJ can be attained within 8 months to 14 months.

I was one of the more competitive and dedicated students in the Hapkido class, so that tells you where the average is...

aw man I watched an 8 minute long video for like a crappy 30 sec fight. Why did the ref do TKO? was that guys knee hurting? If it wasnt then that was really dumb. that guy was goign to get him in a guard.

Dont think that was hapkido beating BJJ just that one guy really owning the other one... didnt seem like style effected much... the guy went in to grab at his legs... then stopped... then the other guy punched him... then kneed him from a superior position... and then just kept it up... especially with that slam which was given to him when he got behind.... I think it wasnt hapkido beating BJJ but just a good fighter beating a bad one... and I really have no Bias towards either art... sooo just my thoughts.

The guy is pure hapkido. So I think I have to look at Hapkido differently from know on. They are know capable of taking on a bjj blue belt, with no previous vt or street experience with one leg that he is barely able to walk on because of a fight he had before the match with the Hapkido guy Sorry I was waiting for some Hapkido dudes to come and brag and then bring this tidbit of info.

the hapkido guy uses a pretty cool wrestling takedown/suplex type thing.

Yes this was a tournament match. The BJJ guy had an badly injured leg from the match before and that was why he was so sloppy and could barely stand.

I read it as though the bjj guy had a fight with the Hapkido guy before the match...
