I concur. That's not a bad mixture, judo and boxing.

Not necessarily, a lot of good street fighters have some defenses at them, and a gun won't do much if you get sucker punched. You wouldn't have the time to draw before they'd be on you.Originally posted by 47MartialManA gun course?

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." Frank Herbert, Dune

No but my father a 27 year vetern police officer has, well 3 to be exact. But that is with fore warning, the times he's been sucker punched he's always resorted to punching back and then tackling the guy. Police Officers aren't suppose to punch suspects but there is not time to pull the gun/batton/pepper spray so you do what works.

I was a DM in Iraq for eight months. If you know what that is, then you'd know. Besides, an alley way is a lot more closed in than say, a desert or a jungle. I've seen some of these guys demonstrate ways how to stop a guy from pulling a gun, and they're actually pretty effective. If someone stops you from drawing the gun with one arm, they still have the other to pound the dickens out of you with it. The fanny pack one is interesting too, they basically headbutt the guy in the stomach and can get the gun out quicker than you can say John Woo. I actually took a few of their methods and used them in reality training, and they work pretty well. A gun is not a catch-all for anything, as you may never even have the chance to draw it before it's all over.Originally posted by 47MartialMandepends........have you ever shot someone?

Best systems
1. Thai Boxing/Mai Tai
2. Kyoshuana Karate

Worst systems
1. BJJ
2. Wrestling
3. kungfu
4 judo
5. aikido
6. Atemi - pressure point dimak stuff
As you can see thai boxing and hard style karate rate as no.1 because they dont waste time learning forms or wearing pyjamas and waving your hands in teh air like some kungfu jerk.
Judo is stupid because u dotn wanna wrestle with someone in the street
the worst systems are good for sport.
atemi is no good because these days people wear jumpers and leather jackets so u cant do pressure point stuff on a person.

Right. BJJ and wrestling is useless on the streets? Is that why the Gracies beem winning fights on the streets since forever? And Kung Fu is useless? Why don't you try fighting some San Shou guys or some Baji guys? Oh wait...you are just a troll.

Hi Snake. I don't mean any disrespect, but have you tried aikido against opponents who can do anything? I did some years ago, and my impressions were that it's one of the most beautiful arts & the circular movements are effortless when executed properly, but the attackers always had to run towards you with an outstretched arm or something similar. This was to ensure that there was momentum to be redirected, and to ensure that a limb was waiting to be controlled.Originally posted by thesnake View Postalso if u are trained in aikido its system of redirecting force is extremly effective against larger/stronger opponents
I've been able to watch some footage of Aikido masters in action, and I still see multiple attackers queued up ready to run at the master so he can do his shihonage or whatever. I've never seen actual multiple attacks simultaneously, or completely random attacks from an individual who was allowed to do anything.
Don't get me wrong - I don't think any martial art can honestly say it's 100% effective on the streets, but I'd love to see some aikido footage where the action is less scripted to prove that it truely is effective against larger/stronger opponents. Have you any examples of this?
Not trying to start a 'my art better than yours', but a debate. What do you think?
