karate.now the only problem i have with that is its to stiff.i mean come on some of the stuff karate teachers teach is out there.i mean look back at the early ufc days it was style verse style and what style domanated that....bjj,cause in real life 90% of fights end up on the ground.and in karate it kick...black.punch,and i can say this from experience a guy you is good in karate and a guy who is good in boxing/kick boxing/muay tai the boxer etc will win cause while they are blasting the karate guy with punches and kicks the karate guy is tring to block...kick...punch.and in my opinon the filipeno martial arts is the best stand up style there is right next to muay tai,in the filipeno/koros system it isnt a whole bunch of falshy moved, yea they have forms but if i am correct forms is how you get your next rank in karate.but the filipeno martial arts has a wide range of fighting from forms to some ground fighting, gotas, traps and stick fighting[kali, arnis, escrima].thats what i got to say and if any one begs to differ ill be gladly to aruge the issue.
well thats interesting,, whut happens when that punch or kick fails to make contact,,,well ill tell you,,,your in limbo and that arm or leg is open for control,,,get real,,street fighting,,,does that really happen? How many you been in,,,and if your answer is many then maybe you should consider moving someplace more civil. Unless of course you enjoy violence.
What a silly post... you cant rate things like that. One dangerous situation can be completly different than the rest. Ive ended fights with rear naked chokes, and Ive ended fights with headbutts, it all depends. The best thing you can do to train yourself for a self defense situation is learn to diffuse it. As far as fighting goes mixing grappling, striking and evasion will go a long way.
I dont like when people say BJJ isnt good for self defense. You dont just learn to roll on the ground and wrestle. You are also learning takedowns, getting out of submissions, getting out of holds, etc. A lot of fights go to the ground and if therse 5 vs you, you better know how to pass guard and get back up quick. There are elements from every style that help in self defense situations.
And to tell you the truth, I would say headbutting, gouging, dickpunches, throat strikes and most of all, BITING goes just as far as boxing in a streetfight
