I've been grappling in the back yard with my boys since i was around 8, and we've always loved to just get out and beat on each other. We learned allot about weight adjustment and joints and some strategy, but there are things that need to be taught, and wont really come form normal backyard rumbles.

recently we've been fighting on the trampoline and having it end by submission, though not from finger/toes things, or choke holds. It seems hard to find moves that work in a real fight like this and we only have 1 or 2 that really work, so it gets to be predictable. Can anyone explain a few submission moves to me or give me a link somewhere where i can learn them step-by-step?

    thanks allot

Is fighting on a trampoline supposed to be replicating the conditions for a "real fight"?

I agree - if you want to learn grappling submissions, join a BJJ school. Nobody can explain in words on the net the subtleties that make a technique work.

hey im not proclaiming to be emulating a street fight by wrestling on a tramploine, but then again we arent emulating the WWF either, we all have dabbled in high school wrestling and want to take it to the next level, understanding more body mechanics and stuff. Thing is, all they have in RI is bull **** americanized "karate" for 8-year-olds

          thanks for the links man

Well from those websites above you should be able to get a few good ones, I dont know why your not implementing chokes.. those are always good for BJJ, Grappling, Or actual fighting. If you think about the trampoline aspect that is acutally harder then fighting on a ground because you have nothing very solid to push off of if someone gets the mount or something like that. As for the techniques you should be able to find them in tons of places on the internet, with pictures.

well, when ur being choked or someone is just cranking on your neck, sometimes you cant really speak, we went for a while with chokes legal but people got hurt, so we ended up doing them, but keep checking on the choked guy, which still was lame so we just sayed F it.

also yes anywhere in mass is too far for me to drive. maybe ill take judo over the summer with a friendjust so we can get used to it and utalize it in our backyard tumbles

You shouldn't have to keep checking on the person if you all tap when you're being choked.

yeah but kids pass out and everyone just gets annoyed with that situation. Its hard just to sloooowly aply the choke and keep it effective from what ive experienced, so when you throw it fast and the guy just goes limp for a few seconds we decided to keep that stuff on the low, not saying it isnt effective in mma or in any real fight at all.

lol you dont give a verbal tap out when your getting choked... you just tap the mat or the person, generally the person so they can feel to let go... hit the mat three times with your hand.. thats tapping out... thats what you do when your choked... and you say youve grappled before?....

yeah we DO that man we DO that, its just like they tell you to do in HS wrestling if someone is gunna pop ur shoulder out the sockett. I dont think anyone can really "tap" verbally, though a sound like "HEY.. HEY!" often comes with the tap. Its just that when you JAM someone into a choke sometimes they cant react quick enough, this has happened a few times with us so we decided to take it easy on neck cranks and chokes, nobody take it personal its not insulting bjj or anything.

how long does it take you to tap your hand three times... I couldnt care less if you insult BJJ, but it takes a second at most to tap out, who cant hold their breath for one second... and if you get "jammed" in a choke, you really need to work on that, because you shold be able to see them trying to work a choke...
