hey you said it, any average chump...I dont train for the chumps, but yeah boxing is a nice tool. Keep in mind though your counting on being faster, stronger and better conditioned than your opponent to win, those are great things to be, but imagine a boxer landing ironpalm slaps instead of punches.
or a boxer with a couple small blades in reverse grip. (pikal) you have to think for the street.

So you think everyone who has never fought in the ring is a chump?
There are plenty of very competant killers who never set foot in a ring, its a fair bet the toughest guy around isnt doing MMA on TV. Many people seem to fail to realize that people who study self defense do so to survive an assault not for fun. Training is fun, And we do train against resisting and armed opponents. I box and wrestle and know various styles of TMA, however when its self defense time, Im surviving, not fighting... there IS a difference. In your world people quit when arm barred, in my world people keep coming after you shoot them...so yeah i question boxings K.O's and BJJ's groundgame to stop someone bent on killing me. I was brought up in a family that supports our country with its sons, I was trained to fight from birth to join the military. Now i train close friends, and those who serve as well as the next generation of our family.

The spirit of the warrior is strengthened by bayonet and blade training, weapons run out of ammo, jamm etc. Things go wrong in the real world, if you havent trained to deal with that scenario you will fail, in the real world that means death or capture.

See the bringing a gun to a knifefight thread I started...guess what a soldier who ran out of ammo pulled a POCKET KNIFE and fought of several machine gun wielding enemy soldiers... the fact that we teach soldiers MMA instead of the knife is STUPID and CRIMINAL if you ask me. Notice he didnt shoot in on the dudes killing his friend and kick them or punch them or submit the machine gun toting opponenets, he attacked them by stabbing them...and drove them off.

good to hear....however i never said that there were not any tough guys out there besides fighters.Surviving and fighting are two different things but they have nothing to do with techniques...its all about being in the right state of mind.I train weapons and against weapons with the person resisting 100% so i found these defenses to work 20% of the time so i def would not try them...only as a last resort.....escape is the first thing on my mind when it comes to weapons and i consider escape the ultimate form of survival.

they teach them hand to hand fighting ie no weapons and one on one with mma techniques.....but they also teach them knife attack and defense and other weapons training they dont just teach them mma.You say you talk to all these army/marine people so you of all people should know this.My cuz came home on leave from iraq awhile ago and told me the exact regime they do....its mma for h2h weapons defenses from krav maga among other things and mindset training all combined under the name "Marine Fighting Techniques".

you train against weapons, RESISTING 100% That i would LOVE to see, even the dog brothers dont go 100% and they wear some pretty light padding at times... even a rubber knife is lethal at 100%...that term is thrown around entirely too often.

I know what it is, its crap. They teach sports to teach agresson instead of the blade. The majority is MT/BJJ with a little boxing, maybe 1% percent of the training focuses on using the blade or defending against it.

you ask "how is a rubber knife with no tip dangerous?" do you know what punyo is? Do you know who Tim Carruthers is? I dont know how fast you are, but im pretty damn fast, you WILL NOT be able to stop me woodpeckering you 6-8 times per second, you defend against that? We have had people bleed from cuts given by rubber knives at 40% full speed. Broken bones would be a certainty if you were hit with the handle of the knife.

...........i dont think you read what i wrote at all, i said i TRY to defend and found that only 20% of the time it works with MODERATE success.Like i said before id rather ESCAPE then get into a knife duel.
