GREATEST EVER UFC

I liked the old UFC because they were style against style and little rules. I liked UFC2 because of its violence and I liked 1,3 and 4 because they were all good styles vs styles. I hated UFC5 with Dan "The Leatherman" Severn bitchslapping everyone like a big buck toothed scout leader.
I liked UFC6 with Tank abbot beeting up on everybody including Oleg "No Talent, Fake credentials" Taktarov. I hate any UFC with Paul "Baby Huey" Varlens because he looks like he would smell of strong body odour. I would hate to be near him when he farts.
I liked UFC8 because it had Don Frye and Big Daddy Goodridge who are both great fighters. I liked Big Daddy crucify than loser wrestler guy and nearly kill him, that was funny stuff.
I hate UFC9 when that scrawny stuttering freckle faced dork Mark Hall got given the win against the Sumo wrestler who was killing him. I hated UFC9 because it was no tournament only single matches.
All the UFC's ever since have sucked ass because of the new rules. The only UFC I liked since number 8 is Ultimate Ultimate 96 but apart rom that they all suck now.

I liked the brutality of UFC II also. I'll never forget the look on what was left of Scott Morris' face when he tried to get up after the mauling he took from Smith. That shocking opener from UFC VI was nasty. Is Matua's 'quivering' edited out of the video release?
I usually like seeing Varelans 'compete' because he always ends up getting mauled when he doesn't quit from losing positions (check out WVC III) and his face gets all swolen.
I didn't like UFC III that much although some good fights and I have not seen any UFC past UFC XV.

You really not missing much since UFC 15 they all suck. There are sometimes good fights like Duarte v Tank in UFC17 but mostly the fights suck. Most the fights resemble Pat Miletich fights where two guys sit in the guard for the entire round. The UFC really sucks now it is more safer than Muay Thai. I prefer to watch Muay Thai now if I want see lots of violence. I only put the UFC on if little kids are around and I dont want them to see anything violent.

What happened to the UFC? Why did they have to turn it into a sort of boxing/wrestling hybrid? I've never gotten over the death of elbows, headbutts and kicking a man when he's down. I heard that its little more than a Pancrase that allows closed strikes nowadays. Is there really nothing after 15? I haven't seen Ultimate Japan or Brazil, are they worth seeing?

To be fair I think UFC16 is good in New Orleans with Frank Shamrock and the UFC Brazil is very good also. Its mainly when they get into the 20's that the shows started to suck. Sure they often have one good fight like Tito vs Frank Shamrock or Couture vs Randleman but overall the shows are boring and lack the excitement and intensity of early UFC's. The boxing/wrestling hybrid is not very good especially now with the 5 miinute rounds and the stand up rule. This what I mean about the Muay Thai being much tougher now. In real Muay Thai you get knees, elbows, throes, sweeps, punching and kicking. The real Muay Thai from Thailand is much more tougher sport than the modern UFC.

My all time favourite UFC maulings in no paticular order are;
Orlando Weit vs Robert Lucarelli UFC II
Gerard Gordeau vs Kevin Rosier UFC I
Tank Abbott vs John Matua UFC VI
Remco Parduel vs Orlando Weit UFC II
Pat Smith vs Scott Morris UFC II
Keith Hackney vs Emanuel Yarbrough UFC III
Johnny Rhodes vs Fred Ettish UFC II
John Hess vs Andy Anderson UFC V
Tank Abbott vs Paul Varlens UFC VI
Gerard Gordeau vs Teila Tuli UFC I
Gary Goodridge vs ??? (crucifix of elbows) UFC VIII
Tank Abbott vs Steve 'the neck' Nelmark UU'96
Special mention goes to Pat Smith's chest kick in his opening match at UFC VI and to Kimo's finishing punches to Varelens' face in UU'96(Paul's grimmacing was exquisite!)

My all time favorite has got to be UFC 2...if for no other reason than the Pat SMith v. Scott Morris fight. That was great.
But I have some of the latter UFCs. I have watched most of them (thank God for satellite) and even though they are not as brutal as the earlier ones, they are still great shows.
What rules did they really do away with? Headbutts was probably the biggest deal since they were so effective but there are still lots of incidental or accidental headbutts anyway. No kicking a downed opponent? How often did that happen? And was it really very effective? Not that I saw. They still can use knees on the ground and elbows are still allowed...watch Evan Tanner, that kid has nothing but elbows.
I think the best thing about the newer UFCs is that I have a better chance of NOT seeing a Chris Kondo, Emmanuel Yarborough or some other completely outmatched fighter.

The later UFC's started to suck when they dropped the fighter intros, seriously. This is about the time they decided to cut production costs and as a result, we had little segway from one match to the other and didn't necessarily get to see anything cool about each new fighter.
From there, it's been a situation were there have been many less talented fighters competing and the UFC is now like a televised Hook and Shoot show.

Atomic, are you kidding?????
I know it's appropriate to bash the Ufc these days, but televised hook'n'shoot! I think that's definitely going over board.
Let's have a look at the fighters on the last two shows:
Tito Ortiz: Perhaps the best middle in the world now
Kondo: Smoked Saulo and Cafe(?spell). Definitely top 10
Matt Hughes: Hallman might be the only lightweight that can take him. Watch what happens in Kuwait!
Miletich: A top 5 lightweight.
Couture: one of the best heavies in the world.
Randleman: Another top 10 heavy weight.
Evan Tanner: Top ten middle weight.
These guys don't sound like hook and shoot to me bro.
I do agree that the prefight interviews being ousted is a mistake though.
Best Ufc's:
The Mo vs. Coleman Ufc/ Ufc VI
later dudes...

Keith--
I stand by my statement. Look at the latest UFC and compare who fought whom. We aren't seeing big names vs big names like we do in Pride or other events. Whether you like it or not, the UFC is now a B or C grade show, at best.
I used to get incredibly excited before a UFC, like a big game or something, but it doesn't even phase me anymore because I know it's going to suck. Hell, now I don't even bother to watch them, for the most part. I'd like to thank SEG for ruining it for me.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it , eh atomic.....
I can't argue with you on the Pride action. The UFC definitely can't put together the fights they can up and down a card. But, I think the UFC's done a good job lately.
Hopefully, they'll get back on pay per view and create more revenue. That's the only way they're going to match the japanese.
later bro......
