Boar, as much as try to dislike it, your aguments against it are so weak that it really appears you know how great it is and only hate it because its so great. All great things go though a process, as history teaches. FIrst the idea is ridiculed: Watch the Gracies in Action or any of the early UFCs, the Karate Chuck Norris guys couldnt believe it. Second it is violently opposed. Watch the Gracies in action, they are challenged in their own dojos are totally dominate the opponents. Third it is accepted as common place. Watch any MMA fight worldwide, BJJ is in the ring 97% of the time.
Kimo, all 260lbs of roided muscle, couldnt even beat a hapless, 178lb guy that trains in a martial art that you know sucks lol. Thats why Kimo went out and trained in BJJ 5-6 times a week and is now a Black in BJJ, because he saw how fake it was that the skinny guy named Royce owned him.

So your definition of owned is going to the hospital while your opponent is cutting flips? i have said it a million times you need it for the ring...for the street judo allows you to throw him to the ground and control him without exposing yourself to needless danger by going with him...

Face it jjj gave birth to GJJ and while gjj beats many things it has been beaten consistently by sak, wallid, and of course a pro wrestler trained in techniques that the gracies modified....why not study the arts that beat the self proclaimed kings of all combat?...instead of the offshoots of it (gjj and bjj).

If no threads like that existed you wouldnt see me wasting my time debating it with you....i would be posting in the CHINESE and FMA and MILITARY threads pretty much exclusivly. HOWEVER the CMA threads are dead because if you attempt to inquire about or discuss them, a well known group of people descend upon you to destroy the threads with statments about wrestling and bjj being the only things that work in the street in spite of the fact that both of them are huge sports....yes they both are a needed part of a complete fighters toolbox, but both of them need work on striking. and wrestling needs to work on finishes, while bjj needs to work on takedowns and striking. The traditional arts need to be taught to address the same freakin things .....ANYTHING ELSE???? CAN I GO BACK TO THE THREADS I WOULD LIKE TO BE TO POSTING IN WITHOUT YOU BUTTING THE **** IN? IF SO I WILL, ....OTHERWISE I WILL BE RIGHT HERE POINTING OUT THE HYPOCRASY AND LIES.

Did I ever claim that BJJ was the best MA? NOPE.. Im just saying its always the same shit over and over about how BJJ isn't good for self defense.. everytime i check out the forum i see some moron who posts it over and over again and still its the same argument. thats all im saying..

thats how i feel when i try and post in the cma section bud...every time someone posts anything about the TMAs the wrestlers and bjj people start sniping at them...dont be so surprised when people shoot back...no one said you were guilty of it but you did ask why the people felt it necessary to point out the fallacies in the gjj/bjj claims.

I always wondered how he or she feel when he or she try and post in the cma section bud. That is a generalization.I was not trying to be a surprised when people shoot back. That is a rather sweeping generalization about people.

It is interesting that JKD187 can post an interesting article on Jujitsu for discussion and it turns back into the same old shit.

Some people do appear to think that BJJ is the answer to everything which is incorrect but others seem to think it has no value at all which is also incorrect.

Why not just accept that people have different opinions or that different styles suite different people depending on their situation or motive for training.

Now, examine for yourselves the idiocy of this person.

Techniques that the Gracies modified? Earlier in this post, you said they "invented" or "stole" them.

Your argument just points to the legitimacy of BJJ. If others had to learn it just to cope with it, then the purpose of BJJ was served. Also, BTW - No one here was advocating that people study BJJ solely... And why put Wallid in there... Oh I forgot, he's a black belt under a Gracie.

In regards to the thread, if you want to argue that JJJ gave birth to BJJ, then you may as well say Indian pankration gave birth to everything. The fact that JJJ shares some techniques with BJJ means very little. A jab is found in boxing, as well Muay Thai, karate, kung-fu and any other system you can think of... So is boxing derived from Muay Thai? NO... Techniques develop out of need, not geography. The centralized theory - that all martial arts came from one source, isn't logical, nor is it 100% reliable... Martial arts history has a tendency to be shrouded in mystery. You ask 100 masters and each one gives a different account.

Also, for the people you claim to know so much about BJJ, that they can continually bash it... It would serve you well to actually read up on the people responsible for introducing this "ultimate" martial art to the world. Helio, as opportunistic as he seems, never claimed to invent BJJ. Rather, he tweaked the techniques to his own stature. Thus, every BJJ person will eventually develop their own game and way of doing things... People who haven't trained in BJJ long enough, do not understand this. Unlike other arts, there is no common syllabus - you follow principles and concepts, until you can instinctively apply them.

-If it was a fight to the death, Kimo would have been dead, end of story. Kimo now is a black belt in BJJ. Wallid??? Do you mean Silva....um, he's a BJJ black belt also. And Sakaraba has gotten his ass beaten down into unconsciousness by Silva 3 or 4 times, and Siva is a black belt, so there goes your stupid theory about Sak beating Gracies so his "art" is better.
