The stupidist comment Jim Brown ever made (and this is paraphrased not exact) was after UFC I or II, when he said "I have been around tough guys all my life, growing up, playing football, and I even hung around with Ali and Mike Tyson. Both of those guys wouldn't stand a chance in the octagon." HA!!!!!!!!!! I could see if he said that after a recent UFC (I still disagree, but it's arguable)...BUT AFTER UFC I or II!!!!!!! HA!!!!!!! So Jim Brown didn't think Ali could've beaten Pat Smith or Gerard Gordeau? He didn't think Tyson could've beaten Kevin Rosier or Zane Frazier? In fact the only two fighters from UFC I or II who could've MAYBE beaten Tyson or Ali (in their primes) were Shamrock and Gracie. Jim Brown was an outstanding football player and one of the greatest athletes of all time. But when it came to fighting he didn't know his elbow from his asshole.

I agree colonie, early ufc was were all the shitty-ryu and tae queer do people tried to fight. Boxers would've destroyed those guys but wouldn't stand a real chance against grapplers because the octagon is cloud 9 for bjj and whatever other sh!t wins in ufc. Put lewis vs rickson in a street fight and I'd put my $$$ on lewis, after all I'd be kinda hard to hold billy bob in your guard when billy-rays kicking you in the head.

Anti-grappling
Guys, (Colonie Crusher and PassiveGuy), I think you two should go get a room. You guys are MADE for each other!
You know, you talk about how the octogon was "made" for the grapplers. We train on a hard floor. We train ALL ranges and especially grappling. If you think for a minute that grappling wouldn't work against boxers, then just let me say that I'm EXTREMELY happy NOT to be training with you.
Just keep doing what you're doing. I'm sure your boxing is just fine (if you're wearing GLOVES on the street).
Meanwhile, we're training realism.

You're crazy!
Twisted, I never said the octagon was unrealistic. I never said that. I have seen Rickson fight before and I think Lewis could take him. Ofcourse if he took Lewis down it would be a different story, but Ricksons takedowns are not the greatest. So get off Ricksons nuts. I do think, however, that Coleman and Randlemen could take Lewis. But, not Rickson.

I do judo and wrestling so I do know some about grappling... It's just not as easy as you may picture it in your mind to double leg a big guy like lewis. I also agree that physically strong grapplers like Coleman would beat Lewis. Rickson just isn't there physically. I just don't see a long drawn out ground "chess match" type fight happining on the street, If you get someone in your guard yer gonna get hit in the head before you pull off that picture perfect triangle choke.
