I wonder if that's that just the UFC or do the other MMA organizations have similar prohibitions?
i dont know dude...i knew people who were tired of the crap being spewed way back in the early 90's myself included...it was made quite clear no ironpalm was allowed...i tried to get it in writing, no one would oblige After that several other ironpalm people i know tried with the same response, we agreed that they knew and we knew they were full of shit and i stopped paying them attention, except to laugh at the butt flopping antics of the gracies...
If you doubt UFC will let you in as an ironpalm praticioner, try to get in...i did..they said NO WAY...this was 1993 ( their final offer when i asked they put it in writing was to allow me to compete IF i wore BOXING gloves) ...several lesser touneys ( in GA) have let in ironpalm people who won...now they dont let you compete either due to injuries recieved by their opponents...the claim is that the opponents try to win without injuring opponents and ironpalm isnt designed for that...they arent interested in someone splitting someones head open with a palm strike...
The early UFCs had no rules except eye guaging and biting, thats it. Period.
Keith Hackney used his palm slap to take down the giant Sumo.
Besides THIS ENDS THE DEBATE: LUKE CUMMO, WHO IS A GOOD FIGHTER BUT WHO GOT SCHOOLED BY A BJJ FIGHTER IN THE UFC, IS A "IRON PALM" FIGHTER LOL. HE USED IT, TRAINS IN IT, ETC. AND GOT WORKED. SO THE UFC ALLOWS IT, THE FIGHTER TRIED IT, THE FIGHTER GOT HIS ASS KICKED AS WOULD ANYONE ELSE TRYING IT, END OF STORY LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Your right, that's one of the reasons the rules were made. The others to protect the fighters. Comparing fighters from UFC 1-10 is like comparing boxers from the 50's to todays. Of course it was different back then. But the fighters who fought in the early UFC weren't martial artists.
Check your facts, man.
Gerard Gordeau, the top ranked Dutch kickboxer KO'd Teila Tuili after knocking some of his teeth out with a well placed round kick to the face.
Pat Smith, Pro-kickboxer K-1, rushed Scott Morris, tackled him and threw elbows until he went limp.
Orlando Wiet, another Dutch kickboxer with a decent record.
Ken Shamrock, shootfighter - no need for an introduction.
Keith Hackney, 5th dan kenpo karate master.
Ron Van Clief, 10th dan Kempo Karate Grand Master, with 40 years of MA experience.
Marco Ruas, Vale Tudo
Royce Gracie
These guys seem like pretty good martial artists?

Never heard of your boy or his ironpalm Who taught his ironpalm? how long had he practiced? fact is your claim is crap and you know it...
Ryan,
I think Cung Le is an awesome fighter, and I respect him a lot. But you're a little full of it, man. First off, San Shou is hardly MMA. Second, there's a major difference in the kind of competition you're talking about and the martial arts you're criticizing others over. A lot of guys here look at martial arts as a way of fighting, not competing. You wanna pound on your chest an call yourself better than all of these other people here because you can fight in a ring? Okay, then. Instead of demanding they show up at your school and play by your rules, why don't you try knocking on one of their doors and letting them deal with you by their rules? Because you'd get stabbed or shot is why. You've got no business telling anyone here that they aren't a martial artist just because they don't compete like you do, especially if your assessment of what it takes to be fight ready is nothing more than competition! else.
I never said anybody was not a martial artists. I never said martial arts was the way of competing. I know the UFC rules. Every one is so damn sensitive. Alls i said was, if UFC were to allow strikers to be full strikers then it would be as popular as Boxing. I never said Sanshou was MMA. I just do matches for fun. The only thing I was doing was clearing up the fact or debate that people think I have no fighting experience. I wasn't boasting my record or size. I just know(never mind, I just think) Luke cummo's fight was a perfect point. He was dominating Joe until Joe took him down. When Joe took him down, there were CLEARLY openings on his back, and back neck to "unload on".
Now luke is a great fighter, but know he does not do iron palm. Still a solid striker "IF ALLOWED" could have ended Joe. I don't want to hear about people say Joe doesn't put his head down when he lunges.
FROM the beggining. If UFC were to change the rules, then we see a major swing in domination in the UFC, And I feel it would take the UFC to whole new level.
Heck maybe you'll see me in action to by then TUF Season VI

I wrote them an inquiry about it, so I'll have to wait for a reply.
Hehehe good luck...they fall back on the unsportsmanlike conduct of intentionally injuring an opponent (which landing an ironpalm strike to the face or head would do), and thats against the rules...they wont put anything in writing, i already tried...
He's your boy lol. and he got SPANKED. Now we see the UFC has always allowed it, the BS gets deep again, wheres my boots?
bullshit as usual from oma i was told no ...several people i know were told no... beside the fact unless its without any sort of gloves the ironpalm training wont be an advantage....without the gloves and the fact they make it easier to grab the hands it wouldnt be pretty, and thats why it doesnt happen.
