Sorry to hijack the thread back to it's original intent but...

I'm going with Hughes. Unless Royce has been in the gym since UFC V, he doesn't stand a chance against Matt's strength.

I'd love to see Hughes pick him up, carry him across the ring and slam him. I'm a Royce fan, but I think he's past his expiration date.

I like that expiration date thing.
Yeah I agree. Hes only fought like 1 a year, his last fights were up against a sumo guy and then he lost to a guy last month, whom only weighed 150lbs.
Well he drawed but he couldn't beat a guy 30lbs less than him.
                Oh yeah he's expired.

I really doubt Royce up and just stopped training in martial arts after UFC 5... y'know... considered one of the best fighters in the world.. meh.. just stop... no point in continue with waht your whole life has been about.

At the very least hes continued his BJJ... think about how long he has had (from accepting the fight) to when it goes down, to practice the shit out of his No-Gi game... that hes prolly been working on for the past ten years anyway.

I used to give this fight to Hughes.. bar none... but now I dont know.. I give the striking and takedowns (easily) to hughes... but the ground maybe too much... Royce has at least 4 months of Hardcore No-Gi training to do.. plus prolly ten years of No-Gi that no one has bothered to inquire about.

With that said.. I'd like to introduce a new phrase to the mma world... "The submissioners chance"... you always hear about the punchers chance.. for instance... people said chuck lidell only has the punchers chance over Couture , or even Horn... or that the puncher doesnt lack the necessary skill in other aspects... so now we finally get "the submissioners chance"... if Royce doesnt get a flash sub, he wont win.. period. (unless hes been boxing for ten years that we dont know about).

                  NOW

Would you stop bitching about GJJ/BJJ all the fucking time, im sure everyone is tired of how useless/effective it is debates... WE DONT GIVE A CRAP.. if you want to train BJJ... do it.. if you think its the best, beauty all the power to you, personally I train in BJJ... I dont flip shit whenever someone knocks it though....

and all the internet challenges.. referring people to your club... and then calling them bitches when they say their not going to come fight you.. thats just stupid people... do you guys remember that "Uke" guy... who challenged us all to come fight the people he trains with etc.. .and get our asses handed to us... its just stupid, you do realize this is the internet.. and we all dont live half an hour away from each others gyms... calling someone out on the internet to come roll with you to see whos better is just fucking stupid.. is it really worht a round trip plane ticket, a hotel, and a few meals.. for one roll.. to prove your right over the internet... do you expect people to do that when they bash your style?

Please stop with it... I could challenge fugging Rickson Gracie to a roll... do you think hes gonna bother coming to Canada to roll with some random guy from the internet... I doubt it, and if he did I would find a gun. (or 30 friends).

Just for clarity, I was referring to Royce being in a gym, not a school. Which was implied in the sentence.

I know the term is interchangable, so no biggie.

So to rephrase, unless Royce has been lifting a lot lately, he doesn't stand a change against Matt's strength.
