Johnny, of course he's not. He's the host.

I thought you were a dyed-in-the-wool capitalist. Surely you understand the market theory of value.

Heckler & Koch MP5's cost upwards of $5000.

            Ruger Mini-14's cost $425 at Wal-Mart.

More people want HK's because they are fine, high-quality German firearms. Thus they cost more. I personally can't afford an HK so I'll buy a Mini 14.

Carlos Machado is the HK of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction, top-of-the-line & top-qualty = More Desirable = Higher Market Value.

If you want some cut-rate BJJ instruction, it's out there for you. This is America. Be Happy. You can have what you want. I wish you wouldn't rag on us so much.

If you want some cut-rate BJJ instruction, come to my club.

I charge $25 per month, and out of that pay $40 every three months for you to participate in a tournament, plus drive you there in my van and pay for the gas.

The downside is that mine is the Daisy BB gun of BJJ instruction.

john - actually i am not even close to a hardline capitalist! is there really over $7,000/yr difference between training w/ you and carlos machado? i don't think so, and if anyone believes this to be the case, then these individuals are just gluttonous beyond all comprehension and deserve the raging fires of hell!!!

To train at our club costs $300 per year.

Consider: I'm a white belt with 3 years experience. I've won a few matches in local tournaments. You can only train with us for two hours each Tuesdays and Thursday. If I don't know something (which is often) I say "I dunno". We don't have air conditioning.

To train with Carlos cost $960 per year.

He's a black belt with 31 years experience. He's won elite, world-class competitions for years. He teaches classes 6 days a week. His mat is open 24/7 to his students. There is very little about BJJ he doesn't know. He has air conditioning.

The air conditioning alone is worth the difference in my opinion.

JB - going to the machado school and paying $960/yr is a huge difference fom paying $150 to spend a few hrs training over a weekend. i could totally understand training at the machado school, but the seminar prices are RIDICULOUS!!! which of the seminar attendees do you think will walk away w/ $150 worth of extra knowledge? unless that person brought a camcorder and is planning on producing copies for profit, i doubt anyone will. i am disgusted at how people take their financial prosperity for granted and blow their money, (not to mention the price gouging involved w/ the running of this seminar) while i have to work so hard just to pay for school. later!

People who want to spend the equivalent of a couple of concert tickets for a weekend of comradery, meeting new people, eating out, getting away from the family, sparring the best BJJ guys in SE Texas, AND learning cool details to advanced techniques from one of the best BJJ instructors in the world, yeah... they're all shameless pigs.

Don't EVEN try bringing up school. I spent too many nights knee-deep in water shoveling mud into a wheelbarrow at 3:00am in January with sleet pelting my shoulders at a sawmill after having been puked on all day by a sick kid while my wife was at work when I was in college to feel sorry for YOU.

I explained to you the market theory of value, but you don't understand it. I give up. You win. Maybe they'll cover it in ECO101.
