So it was legal in Kimura's time, there we go.

Its a shame that its gone, it has some decent practical application.

San shou (散手) or Sanda (散打) is a modern Chinese martial art and a self-defense system. It is composed of various aspects of traditional fighting styles in China. The two main styles that san shou is composed of is kickboxing and shuai jiao, a Chinese form of wrestling. San shou tournaments are one of the two sport wushu disciplines recognized by the International Wushu Federation[1].

San shou was developed by the Chinese Army in the 1960s, which was a decision of the Chinese government. Various traditional styles as well as old-style lei tai fighting competitions were studied, and choices made from these were combined with modern insights to create san shou. One can see san shou as a synthesis of traditional Chinese kungfu fighting techniques into a more amorphous system. The emphasis of san shou is on realistic fighting ability, and not the ability to perform elaborate forms.

As an unarmed self-defense system, san shou includes throws, locks, chokes, kicks, punches. As a sport, san shou is practiced in tournaments. Various techniques from the self-defense form of san shou are not allowed during these tournaments, like elbow hits, chokes and arm locks. Furthermore, it is possible to defeat the opponent by moving him outside the ring. Fighters are only allowed to clinch for a short few seconds. If the clinch is not broken by the fighters and if neither succeeds in throwing his opponent within the time limit, the referee will break the clinch.

Some well-known San shou fighters include the IKF champion Cung Le, Rudi Ott, and Marvin Perry.

Seems like a well MIXED ART to me
San Shou = MMA.... haha you make me laugh. You can quote pro-Chinese sources who go on about how san shou is based on "traditional" wushu etc, but the truth is and will always be that it is influenced by Muay Thai and continues to resembles Muay Thai far more than it does the traditional styles. You don't need to look it up on "answers.com" or Wikipedia to realise that, just watch it.

well then by your definition any form that participates in the use of standing techniques including the use of all limbs is muay thai and any art that has been influenced whatsoever is MMA - So basically any art is either MMA or Muay Thai? Don't be daft.

I would like to know what makes the striking intrinsically CMA and not just kickboxing, I think the gloves make it resemble MT a whole lot, and I wish I could spot where it actually looks like its based in CMA, I know it is mainly based in these styles but it does in fact look a lot like kickboxing with takedowns.

Tant could you tell me whats wrong with addressing people as mate? Im not sure if you have this massive stereotypical view about social variation through language change but you should respect the way people speak, sometimes its seemingly unavoidable to speak a certain way...

Nothing at all as long as you're on friendly terms with the chap you're speaking (typing) with.

I have had English gentlemen call me "mate" on many occasions and didn't throw it back in their face. Actually a few of them were Australian SF... Same idea. I must admit I had trouble the first time one tried to bum a fag....??? LOL

You seem like a guy who needs external validation so you keep talking it up big so you can be the biggest fish in the small pond of the internet. Quit the ego agenda mate.
