They know that grappling is wrestling, judo, jiu jitsu and whatever else that works for grappling(not striking). Theyre probably not that good at takedowns but that doesnt mean that they dont incorporate it into their curriculum or think its inferior to their guard.
Fingerlocks? You're right fingerlocks won't work without proper positioning, leverage and immobilization, etc (just like any jointlock). In my personal experience they can open the doors for other things, give you a little breathing room. I've caught people in some nasty thumbs locks during grappling.

I recently saw a clip of this guy. Hilarious!

Almost everything -- all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.

I heard a story years ago that when what's his face put this book out, Renzo Gracie offered to fight him so they could see how well that stuff actually worked against a grappler. The conversation supposedly went like this:
Renzo: Let's fight and see what you can do.
Montaigue: Well, that won't really work, because we'd have to fight absolutely no rules and I'd have to be allowed to use all kinds of techniques that aren't legal in any kind of sport fighting
Renzo: OK. You can do anything you want.
Montaigue: I think I left the oven on, I'll get back to you.
Could be true, but I can't prove it.

The only way to fight a grappler is be a better grappler, or a hell of a gymnast (sprawl).
When I was fighting a BJJ 18 year old, when I was 19, I had a strong wrestilng background, and the lack in his training was his tendency to just want to sloth up (many bjj gyms just like to sloth up with eachother and try to do kimuras). My submission work sucked compared to his but a simple sprawl put him flat out when he tried his takedowns and from there, I actually did a roll over him and stood. I was just testing out how good I could keep it stand up.
I'm not super agile but I was able to do that to him. I wonder what kind of abilities a man who has engaged in tumbling would have over BJJ fighters.

Well im just wondering, does any style (ground style, like judo or Bjj, or evev japan juijutsu) has punches on the ground??
i didnt see anything about that,... i mean pride and ufc is something else its a competition under some rules, so any style on ground has punches ? i know judo didnt have, i trained it...

Ok so its been a while since ive been in here but I couldnt pass this thread up. Now I myself am a grappler but have been trained as a striker for 80% of my martial training and I find this whole dim mak or as i like to call it the touch of bulls**t just that.
Now tell me after watching the human stun gun (bulls**t) is nothing but a self proclaimed master of the death touch. plus when he said that athleats are the ones that are harder to put the death touch shows that its a power percived is power achieved. His students believe that he can do this and thus the effect.
Now nothing competes with a good ol ground and pound! Just ask royce about that one.
(sorry about the spelling)
