The striker might not have to grapple all that much but there will be a point in time like in a clinch where he will have to push the grappler off.
I can say the same about the grappler, if he isnt used to defending against palm strikes, elbows, and knees and the throws of Judo he isnt prepared for a fight with a stand up fighter, if you cant take me down i dont care how good your ground game is....unless you can butt scoot around a ring and beg the other guy to lie down missionary position with you, you're gonna need more than a good ground game. and you're wrong about wanting to push you off in a clinch, i will pummel you with headbutts, elbows, knees, shoulders, forearms, palms, hammerfist, and stomps, all of those things can be dimmak strikes jr....before you make fun of something, you might wanna have an inkling what you're talking about.

please enlighten me jr, WHAT is dimmak? please tell me, you seem so knowledgable as to what it isnt capable of and what its NOT, so why dont you tell me what it is? Where did you study? what art IS the very vehicle upon which the legend of dimmak was built?

Boarspear... Throws in Judo are grappling.... For some reason there is a thought that grappling is strictly the ground. And, how come I'm not on your block list anymore... *sighs* I must be doing SOMETHING WRONG... lol.

And I agree about the Gracies lol... But I have always though of grappling to encompass 2... possibly 3 of the 4 ranges of fighting. Close range, Clinch range, and ground. I think the whole going to the ground thing is a lil overrated(though necessariry in some situations... and being on your back... **** that man.

@ BoarSpear and J-Luck: No need to explain to this idiot what fighting is all about. I just read some of his posts, 7r14ngL3Ch0k3 is a sinister joke. For example in JKD forum, after 5 pages of endless philosophycal debate on what JKD is ... just sayes "martial arts you practice that are geared for the streetz." - thaaaa. I was just wondering; did he have the common respect to read the topic before posting ? No.

MMA people dont think grappling equals the gaurd, BoarSpear thats a broad generalized statement and you know it. Cmon.

I would probably agree with MMA people think "grappling" is fighting on the ground, Gaurd, Mount, Side Control, The back...

They would still be wrong, but thats not the point, dont make completely generalized (wrong) statements.
