I'm still waiting on the excuses from the Gracie club on what was wrong with the rules for this fight.

I wanted Royce to win but Hughs dominated the whole fight. He took it to the ground got control and almost broke Royce's arm. It ended with the ground and pound. There is one make weakness in BJJ and that is the lack of takedown power. If the Graices improve this with more wrestling and takedown training then they can be on top once again.

Pish posh submiting a grappler would be ideal, if he was primarily a standup fighter I'd say KOing him would be ideal. You're right a win's a win but when he's given the opportunity to best his opponent at his own game, he should take it, he's had some good luck with rear-nakeds in the past but submitting royce would've been choice.

I can't say I was shocked. Gracie's stand up looked better, but he's still not the rounded fighter he needs to be in order to compete.
But I think I've discovered the secret to GJJ: as babies, all the Gracie children are taken away to a secret location where their joints are replaced with state of the art ball swivel joints. Fer cryin out loud, my elbow STILL hurts after watching that arm bar@!

I knew this was going to happen, the poor guy just got blown out of the water. Hughes is a phenominal athelete and fighter, but Royce is a 6th degree in BJJ, its a shame he couldn't get to gaurd, I really though his skills would get him there.
Ugh.... good for Matt. I beleive this makes a statement, but I'm not taking anything away from Royce and his profound impact on this sport.
