  • Dangers of the Bicep Slicer

The Bicep Slicer is regarded as a pain move but I've heard stories of injuries from not tapping to them. So what're the physics behind this move and what kind of injury would you recieve if you didn't tap to this move, would you recieve an injured muscle or would the result be an injured bone?

The Bicep Slicer is a pretty dangerous submission technique that puts pressure on your bicep muscle(duh!) with the pressure comming from your wrist or forearm blade...or can be aplied with the legs using the shin.Funny you would ask because i know of this guy at my old gym where he was caught in a bicep crusher by a smaller guy(the guy was about 175lbs while the guy on the receiving end was about 190lbs and was ripped)and he refused to tap and tried to take the pain....since he had a huge bicep by the time the guy let go he had a torn bicep.....also ive actually seen first had a very deep bicep crusher applied resulting in multiple hinatomas on the guys arm.Ive been caught in bicep crushers before and they hurt like hell...when i was drilling the technique i swear my arm was aching for at least a week after we were done.

the bicep is a surprisingly sensitive muscle, its a good one to attack. attacking the bicep with strikes can be very effective as well.

On one of the last German Submission events one forearm was broken due to not tapping while in the bicep keylock. Looked nasty...

        Greetings

Ouchies. The Bicep Slicer gets a bad rep since it's a 'pain move' but I'm sure experiences like these really change your mind. Was the bicep muscle cut completely in half?

I couldn't really tell... but i know that the guy was in some serious pain and couldnt move his arm...they immedialty iced it and then he had his buddy drive him to the hospital to get it checked out. When he came back he said he had a deep bicep tear and had to get surgey.Applied right they can cause some serious damage espically if you apply the double bicep crusher...the single is just with the arms using back pressure to sink it in...but with the same technique if you use your legs as well with it...man it hurts like a bitch.

Yeah it's such a bitch to be put in one of those moves. I find the pain to be quite different from an armbar. In an armbar you can fight it and fight it and feel a little bit of relief, but for this move, it's you think you're defending it well one second then your arm is subject to searing pain and you're seeing stars or what not.

You have your opponent in butterfly guard. Have wrist control on both of his hands (left hand on his right wrist and vice versa). Bring your left leg under and around his right arm (clockwise motion) without letting go of the wrist(hook your foot into his tricep if you can). Drop your right leg, let go of his left wrist and bring your right arm under his armpit and grab his shoulder. Spin so you're looking at his right bicep and 'let him pass your guard' into sidemount(keep hold of that shoulder!). Let go of his right wrist now and put your left hand on his shoulder as well. Pull down on the shoulder and hip up for the bicep cutter.
