  • Arm triangle/shoulder choke, proper execution?

I've been toying with this choke all day while rolling but it keeps ending up being a neck crank and it's really starting to tick me off because I can't figure it out . Anyone care to share with me your secrets on how to properly execute an arm triangle so it's a blood choke?

You really need to drive all your weight into your shoulder and thus into your opponents shoulder. Just like a regular triangle choke, make sure his arm/shoulder is snug against the side of his neck too.

Check off all of these things and it should work...

      1. You are on the same side as the arm that is trapped, it wont work if your trying to do it from the opposite side.

2.The arm is across the neck, its the same as a triangle with the legs the arm has to go across.

      3. When you have the choke sunk, sprawl out and move your body so its perpendicular to theres, so you create an "L" or 90 degree angle.

4.Your pushing their shoulder into their artery, whether you use your neck or your shoulder, keep that in mind, when u think about it it works better.

      5. Hand position, I found for me you should put your free hand that is sticking up in the air on the outside side of your head, this tightens it up alot for me.

Oh and this is key after every time u choke them out ask them if it was a choke or a crank they tapped to.
