    arrogance

I don't think it is fair to say that American's have any monopoly on arrogance.
Soccer is a perfect example of the arrogance shown by most of the world. In fact most countries hate to be beaten at all by the US. In the recent 2-0 loss to us, Mexico blamed the loss on everything except the fact that we outplayed them.

I think Tito was just extremely psyched up to have won so quickly. Not everyone is ice cool in the ring. He tried to temper his reaction when he saw that Tanner was being checked by the docs. I am sure it was pretty hard to overcome the adrenaline surge that he must have had.

Well this is what I found...

      From a NHB/Wrestling site:

When Tito Ortiz came into the UFC in 1997, he was fighting as an amateur due to his college status. The young, extremely powerful wrestler threw his first opponent around like a rag doll, but he was outclassed in the finals by Guy Mezger, who got him to tap to a choke for the win. All's well, except that Guy appeared to have tapped earlier in the bout. Or maybe he was just adjusting his position and trying to scoot up. Depends on who you talk to. Tito walked off in disgust, and Mezger, a Ken Shamrock student fighting out of his Lion's Den school, had his moment in the spotlight.

1999. A slightly older, infinitely more skilled Ortiz re-enters the Octagon and faces another Den member in Jerry Bohlander. Jerry predicted an easy win, even going so far as to say that he was "Going in there with a win already." Maybe on another night. Tito completely dominated and punished Jerry until referee John McCarthy stopped the fight. Ortiz had his first taste of revenge against Shamrock's Den, and after the fight, he donned a t-shirt that made allusion to the fact that he had had his way with Jerry in a very personal manner, if you get what we mean. We think you do.

Tito was making a name for himself, and when Guy Mezger's opponent in UFC 19 dropped out, he was a natural replacement. "Nothing personal," Mezger noted. "Just business. But let's finish it." It was finished, but not by Guy. Ortiz again dominated the Den fighter until the ref halted the bout. And Tito donned a shirt that made a colorful play on Guy's name. (Again, we leave you to figure it out.) Ken Shamrock, who was present, didn't really care for Tito's attitude, and the two had a slight argument before being separated.

Tito was now a force. And Frank Shamrock was the Middleweight Champion, formerly of the Lion's Den. It was a marquee match-up that SEG was able to put together. Tito was going for his third straight win, Shamrock his fifth. The scene was played up in UFC 21, with the fighters doing an interview in the middle of the Octagon. Shamrock promised that someone walking into his world "Was gonna walk out a loser." Ortiz maintained that it was time to "Go out with the old, in with the new."

It was a damn good fight (and it's available on the UFC Hits Volume 2 DVD, out now). Shamrock was controlled by Tito for over 20 minutes, but held his own and was able to tire the bigger man out. A weary Tito tapped out to strikes, and Shamrock walked away from his biggest challenge yet. Yes, Tito donned yet another shirt, but this one was Frank's UFC duds that proclaimed him the Champ. A classy move, and a classic ending that a team of Vince Russos couldn't have dreamed up.

Zuffa is trying to make stars out of their fighters, and this may or maynot be what they had intended, but it gives Tito a personality. Unlike someone like Horn, who has fought many a time in the UFC ( and I like Jeremy alot) but Jeremy doesn't exactly have an overpowering ring "presence".

Tito on the other hand does. Football has their intimidating, celebrating shamelessly after a huge hit or play, etc.. Tito has his. If he wins, he puts on his shirt and does his act... "I killed the axe murderer" or the samarai imitation after defeating Kondo.
For that matter, did you see his impersonation of Randleman BEFORE the fight? When he began bouncing like that during the introductions, I laughed MAO.
But when Tito lost against Frank, the shirt was not rude. It was an admitance of defeat.
Tito has personality, he's one that many will not like, but NONE will turn away from. He's exciting. I disagree that he's bad for the sports future. Tito knows KO's like that happen in any sport that is as combative as ours, and although he hoped Tanner was fine, he celebrated his victory the Tito way because he can.
I'm sure his adrenaline was flowing, but that was not spur of the moment..... he planned it. And I'm looking forward to what he does after his next fight honestly.

Yeah I got a kick out of his Monster jumping routine too. That was funny as hell. I wonder what Kevin thought!

The only thing missing was the girls in bikinis during his entrance and Triple H in his corner.

I would have suggested fire works and public challenges in the ring, but...

IT's a real stretch to say Renzo routinly kicks his opponants after wins when there is only 1 fight of his on the Kukuk NHB tapes. The reason he kicked the guy is because of the tactics he used in the fight. Constantly pullin himself out of the ring to avoid submissions and the ground game all together. As well as the fact that the guy tapped and when Renzo released the choke continued to fight like he never tapped. I can't believe people still don't know the story behind the Spijkers fight. Before the fight Spijkers was insulting Renzo and his wife in the pre fight interviews. Some of the things he said: " Renzo is so pretty I don't know whether to fight him or F!$#him", " I'm going to take him down and make him my bitch" etc... The guy definatly deserved it.

These men are No Holds Barred fighters. They should be nice to each other. This is outrageous.
