It looks every bit as formidable to freestyle/greco; those wrestlers look strong and fit too. The wrestlers don't follow their opponents to the ground - you can see where san shou gets this.

Those guys are crying because their back and or neck is broken...these guys are IDIOTS! The cameraman just sits there, recording the whole thing when he should be running, no sprinting off and calling 911.Originally posted by DickHardman View Posthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3iCLdv5PdY
backyard wrestling is cool too....
This is what happens to kids who grow up without playing sports. They get bored and try shit like they see on t.v.
Think about it. If you played football as a kid, you know that getting hit causes some pain. Same with baseball - getting lobbed by a pitcher, even if his pitch barely reaches 50 mph, can stun you properly.Last edited by Tom Yum; 07-02-2007, 11:39 AM.

yeah......i really dont know what those guys were thinking. i mean honestly, what good did they think was going to come out of that? that impact sounds so hard lol.......i like how the cameraman asks them if they are ok right after they land and start screaming in agony lol.....Originally posted by Tom Yum View PostThose guys are crying because their back and or neck is broken...these guys are IDIOTS! btw, this is proof that darwin was correct. we just watched natural selection occur before our very eyes.

depends on how you measure a "good" takedown. for simply getting someone off their feet, i think jubaji's right, you can't beat the western wrestling. but i think mongolian wrestling and judo both put more emphasis on takedowns that can really put the hurt on.Originally posted by Tom Yum View PostWhose the best takedown artist:

Someone ought to hold a takedown competition, pitting style vs. style...

Taking what you've said into consideration, how would one structure a grappling competition between these styles?Originally posted by The_Judo_Jibboo View Postdepends on how you measure a "good" takedown. for simply getting someone off their feet, i think jubaji's right, you can't beat the western wrestling. but i think mongolian wrestling and judo both put more emphasis on takedowns that can really put the hurt on.
Would points be awarded for simply getting the opponent off his feet or for how high and hard he gets pulled/thrown off his feet?

wow, that's an interesting question. if you made a kind of composite set of rules from judo and freestyle it would seem more fair to skew the emphasis more toward the wrestling end of the spectrum, since the judoka could still use any of his big throw set ups and mind tricks to achieve a less devastating takedown, while the freestyle guy would require a larger mentality shift if the big judo style throw were the emphasis. as for specific rules that would take a lot of negotiation!Originally posted by Tom Yum View PostTaking what you've said into consideration, how would one structure a grappling competition between these styles?

i think i would like to see the two fight under sumo-like rules, where even putting the other guy on a knee wins it. i think that would the emphasis on the universal stand-up grappling necessities of timing and balance.

It really just depends on the level of competition that the grappler is/has been competing at. Obviously, freestyle/greco and judo have the most top notch competition so thats who'd be the best.Originally posted by Tom Yum View PostWhose the best takedown artist:
