  • Mark Cuban involved with Fedor signing with M-1?

FEDOR EMELIANENKO CONTRACT IS 5 FIGHTS FOR $12 MILLION!
By Matt Goldstein and Jim Barlieb

Mark Cuban Partners in Deal; HBO and Showtime Looking to Televise

Reports have been swirling about the recent M-1 Global singing of Fedor Emelianenko and the involvement of Mark Cuban. The deal is reportedly for 5 fights totaling more than $12 million. Fedor will fight in Russia but his fights will also be seen in America on Mark Cuban’s HDNet. Now that UFC’s Heavyweight champion Randy Couture is a free agent, fight fans are hoping that the demand is high enough to force Couture back in the ring. Would Couture be willing to fight in Moscow? For the right price and the chance to fight the recognized #1 heavyweight in the world, a Fedor Emelianenko-Randy Couture fight might not be that far off. TV Deals are also being negotiated with HBO and Showtime. Source: MMA Fightline

I saw an interview on Fox Fight News last week with Mark Cuban. They were asking him about his HDNet MMA Fights where he had Erik Paulson as the main event and what his plans were for the future of them. He was also asked about Randy Coture and others. Mark Cuban said that once Randy is free and clear from the UFC that he would like to talk to him about fighting for HDNet MMA Fights. Josh Barnett pretty much called Randy Coture out saying that he would love to fight him again. Josh beat Randy 5 years to become the youngest heavyweight champion in the UFC. A lot of rumors out there about who Mark Cuban is tryign to sign.

Will be interesting to watch and see what happens. I went to the fights in Dallas October 13th and thought it was a good show. Especially for the first one... of course to me it was worth it to see Erik Paulson fight again after being retired for 7 years. We set in the second level balcony...which is not nearly as high up as you might think. This is the same level as all the luxury boxes... and out tickets were only $10 each.

Mark Cuban is all over the place, It figures he is involved somehow. I don't know if the man is good or bad for sports in general. I will say this though, the man knows how to sell tickets.
