  • Shoulder locks.

Hey all. I recently came across some interesting variations of techniques from the cross side position.

I thought I'd share some good Judo with the kind folks who read this stuff?

I'm not up to speed with posting the UTUBE video so kindly click the link and check it out!

Take it to your school and try it out for yourself but be nice, eh? Don't hurt your friends who don't know when they should tap out to your new tricks!

    Enjoy,

    ~R

Thanks to Boyd Ritchie (sombo) for the details on the techniques.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like you'd have a better grip if you just went with a basic kimura grip.

Just when you thinks you've seen it all. Grappling is so amazing with it's thousands of variations to every hold.

I think I have a good idea what you mean by a "kimura grip" but I'd like you to clarify if you would? Why would it be better? Easier? More efficient?

I've watched this clip at least a dozen times... Shoulder destructions are perhaps one of the best tools for a quick submission.

Again, I suggest CAUTION when playing with this stuff, there is a good REASON they are BANNED in JUDO COMPETITION.

It's not nice to hurt your friends!

We use them all the time in JJJ. I had about 5 different shoulder locks/breaks on my black belt test. Haven't used one since.

Not much, mostly teaching and throwing.
