  • Open Question: should i keep training?

i have been training at my local mma gym (mixed martial arts) and about 3 days ago we did No Gi Wrestling and after the night was over i had really sore quad muscles, and there still sore to the day and i think i should stop training for a while but my dad says to keep pushing it and its normal, can i cause any damage to my body if i keep goin ( mature anwsers) and beside the "tought guy" way should i keep traning?

you have to keep going in order to condition your body.. you were just sore because of the training.

I would keep training but train to the extent that you can stand the pain. If you are training right then you are going to have pain.

I think you should keep training, but you should also pay attention to your body and not train through pain so hard you get injured. You are going to have to deal with a certain amount of muscle pain and soreness at the start of training. If the soreness is severe enough that your strength and flexibility are significantly impaired, take a day or so off from training and see if it goes away.

If you have persistent pain and soreness, speak with your instructor. He can advise you whether you should train through it or take time off, or he may be able to suggest an alternative training program that will allow the muscles to heal. Of course, if the pain or soreness persists for a long time or gets worse, consider seeing a doctor.

Lastly, if you are in your teens or early twenties, your muscles should adapt to the training very quickly and the soreness and pain should go away. Old guys like me (almost 40 now!) need to accept it as part of life...

EDIT: just realized I'm answering the 'bot...but everyone deals with pain, soreness and injury, so maybe others will be interested in this thread. I hope the OP, whoever he may be, found a way to work through the pain and keep training...

No, you should stop training. MMA is full and there is no space for you.
